When I hand deliver or the customer picks up and I manually mark it as shipped, it requires me to select a carrier, so can you make a carrier in the drop-down that is "picked up" and does not request a tracking number to be put in and maybe make another carrier that is "hand-delivered" or "self-delivered" and also does not require a tracking number?

Would like to be able to add a custom shipping method, for example Customer Pick Up, or Pallet Delivery. Sometimes we also ship to a marketplace with shipping labels provided by the marketplace, however we'd still like to process the order through Ship Station, just not use our UPS/Fedex account, for example. At present there doesn't seem to be any way to override the shipping presets.

Yes, please! There definitely needs a "Pickup" or "Local Delivery" as a method to mark those items picked up by customers or direct delivered by the warehouse.

This would be nice! As we offer "local pickup" on our site for locals who want to buy our product and save on shipping costs! All we use internally is the packing slip, but it could become tedious for us to manually mark each one as shipped in SS, while printing out daily orders.

I like that one too. Just hand delivered a package and figuring out what to do with the order...?

Something really useful with be to add or customize a shipping method for companies that allow you to track packages just like UPS or Fedex or USPS but do not have integration modules for example: We ship sometimes via Southwest Air Cargo and we would love to be able to process the order trough shipstation by sending a tracking number that can be linkable to their page to be able to track it. Something like: Name of Carrier: South West Webpage: www.swacargo.com Webtracking Link: www.swacargo.com/tracking/trackshipment So that when order is processed you use that method enter a tracking number and voila! email is sent to customer, if not possible to link trackin number at least the url of the carrier should appear on email so that customer can manually click and then track Thanks

We have many customers in our local area who could potentially come by to pick up there orders. A "custom" or "local pickup" would be a great option.

New user looking for this feature - I signed up today and am trying to update a couple of local orders that were picked up from our warehouse. According to the website, I should be able to specify an "Other Carrier" - https://shipstation.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/1137677-how-can-i-mark-an-order-as-shipped-if-i-don-t-ship-it-via-shipstation-?b_id=150 But when I try this, I get an error message saying "Invalid Carrier". Why does this not work?

The trick is to use "Mark as Shipped.' Go to the Orders tab and select the orders in question. Then choose "Mark as Shipped." When you do that -- for one or several items --a "Mark as Shipped" dialog comes up. At the upper right you can select "Other" as carrier. This is the only place in Ship Station, I believe, where you can designate "other" for carrier. We then print a separate batch of packing slips for these orders using our label printer. We use these instead of ship labels, attaching them to the outside of the packages. We then put those orders aside for the chosen delivery (or pickup) method.

We have one product that use custom freighting service for delivery. So it is absolutely required for us to be allow to set custom shipping method. Maybe where the shipping cost can be manually entered?

We need the capability to ship things with various freight companies and would like the option to simply add them in as a 'custom option'. This post needs more votes!

I'm adding my voice for a local pickup, including a field for the person who actually picked up the order. This has to be easy compared with writing glue code for shippers APIs. Seems like (modest) masses have spoken on this.

Yes! Exactly, we also have those who walk in and buy, those who pre-order and Will Call, plus we do Installations of our products, and large orders go by common carrier or Freight. We have to add notes and keep checking as items are picked up, installed or freighted. We have to mark those as "SHIPPED" to close them out. But at that point, did they pick it up or did we install it. We have to read the entire order to see what and when things have been finished.

I vote for this as well. We use a local courier for package deliveries within 5 miles of our warehouse. It would be great to set up a custom carrier service, and even better if I could set specific rules that apply that service to packages with shipping addresses within a specified radius I select.

This would be incredibly helpful. Even if the notice didn't include a link, just the name of the carrier, it would be a big help. One thing I *think* might work is doing a bulk shipping update and instead of typing in the tracking number add the carrier name plus the tracking number. This would display on the client side I think.

I am really looking forward to this being implemented, but for now here is how I am handling this: I have created a couple of custom email templates that don't include a link for the tracking number, that way you can enter whatever you want in the "mark as shipped" field as plain text and the client won't expect a link. We do about half of our orders as dropships, but we love the look of the SS shipping notifications and want things to be consistent for the client. Doing these manual email templates isn't ideal, but it definitely works for us for now.

This is a definite matter to address. Billions of products are shipped LTL carrier. Even freightquote has a usable API but no one works on the intergration

MUST HAVE. Taking this idea one step further for all those 100's of countries out there that don;t have a shipping supplier that works with ShipStation yet (I'm looking at you Australia!!), can we PLEASE have the ability to create CUSTOM SHIPPING LABELS as well as custom shipping methods. Then we can just print normal address labels for customers to stick on our parcels. Just use the same design engine you have for your packing slips, Shipstation. And then we will have a workaround until we get your awesome software working with DHL, TOLL, Australia Post, whatever!

Word!

I use the "other" in ship mether and in the tracking information I note whether it was picked up at our location or if it was installed or if it was shipped via a freight company not on your list. Most frustrating is all the time spent tracking everything down on a daily basis. Thanks

  • September 11, 2015
I usually choose 'other' and where you enter tracking info I write the freight company as well.

This is the only feature that is missing for me, as I sell some of my products from the UK there is no way to process them in shipstation to print a label with just the address, if you allow custom methods, this opens up a lot of potential for international sellers using their own methods! I will probably return to this program if there is a way, but without this feature it is useless for me

I live in Austin and get many customers wanting to just pay a Paypal invoice and pick up their order. It's called "Local Pickup" nothing strange or weird about it. It would be good to add the carrier as local pickup then six months later when I'm looking at my records I can tell what happened. With marking the order as "shipped" that only has me scratching my head wondering how.

It would also be great to allow a user to add/delete/customize shipping carriers within the drop down menu of "marked shipped" section. Currently if you have the unenviable task of posting tracking numbers you have to scroll through a bunch of carriers that you never use. It would be useful and more efficient to enable/hide all those carriers you actually use. We only use USPS, Fedex, UPS and ONtrac but we have to scroll through a very long list of carriers that we don't use in order to select the carrier choices we use.

I agree. Right now, eBay is offering free return labels on any orders with labels printed through eBay until December 31st. This could be huge for those of us who offer to pay for return label shipping costs on certain items. But by printing labels through the marketplace, the order does not show up under shipments and we will have to manually enter all tracking numbers on EVERY ORDER. ShipStation already links to the eBay account, why couldn't they link the shipping portion/tracking number as well. Shipping through the marketplace also allows you to see metrics that you might not otherwise have.

We are also needing something similar to this. We use magento as our e-commerce platform, and then shipstation to process and ship orders. We have a large amount of customers who are local and pick up directly from our store. Currently for an order that is a customer pick up, we have to manually go into the order, mark it as shipped, enter in a fake shipping number, enter a fake shipper, and then click notify marketplace. It doesn't seem like much of an issue, but it does add time to each order like that one.
