Hey @bishal! Thanks for bringing this up! Please send an email to support@shipstation.com for the best and fastest resolution on issues you are running to or chat in with us by clicking on the question mark icon in the upper righthand corner when logged into ShipStation. When emailing (or chatting) in, please add any error messages you see or the order number you're seeing issues with and our folks will dig into this for you.

This has been an on-going request since as early as Aug 28, 2012. This affects many of us, makes it difficult and time consuming. It should not take you this long to see that is a company does not require additional ship methods, they do not need to use them. But if our company delivers, installs or our customers come in to pick up their order, we still have no way to track. Guess we are wasting our time not just on our tracking but in asking you to make a change as well. HoHumm, I guess. You don't care.

Hey, @ShariL, thank you for chiming in! Since August 2012, both our product and development teams have been working on lots of big and small things to help benefit all users such as a new interface, our mobile app ShipStation Companion, new carriers and integrations, and small bugs that help you and other shippers work smoothly. I thank you and all of our users for your patience and help on your ideas! We're hard at work prioritizing all of the ideas and business challenges shared here by users today and read your feedback daily. @everyone - It sounds like a lot of the users here are using the "Other" carrier in Mark as Shipped and entering notes into the tracking number field but want better access and visibility around this. How often do you need to use this "Other" carrier in relation to the number of orders you ship with ShipStation? Any information outlining your business challenge is always appreciated and helps point the product team in the right direction.

We use integrated labels and don't have an active "carrier". Thus, we can't have "Shipping Services" mapped ... How can this be? I just want to have "Standard" and "Expedited" and not all the marketplace generated service names ... seems easy enough???

Seems pretty clear that this issue needs to be addressed. I find it pretty frustrating that all of these people are saying the same thing over many years and there still isn't a solution. I love Ship Station but this is a glaring hole for a small business.

We have a lot of will call orders which we mark as fulfilled through Shopify by using the "mark as shipped" A custom shipping method like "will-call" or "customer pick up" (with custom packing slips) is something that I would implement immediately. For this to be completely effective, I would need to also be able to export reports based on this shipping method.

Thank you for the comments! As you may already know, we've just released our inventory management feature that helps you track your products to get ship done! This has taken a lot of time and effort to develop and we're still looking to do more. That being said, we're more free to research other ideas presented in the forum like this, but we're also still busy enough (with inventory improvements) that we still need time to prioritize ideas. @TypeAFinance - What kinds of questions are you looking to answer with a "pickup" type of report? To help with this, you can create a "Pick up order" tag, filter your orders, and then export the filtered orders with a custom format. Understandably, this may not be feasible for all types of situations but if you need this information sooner rather than later, this would be one way to do it.

We save a lot of money by using an upper midwest shipper called Spee-Dee. We need to be able to set up and choose this as a custom shipping method. The workout is way too much work.

  • April 5, 2017
If you're not supporting LTL freight shipments, we at least need to have this!

  • May 5, 2017
Yes, customer pickup is an obvious one (we currently use Other and then enter PICKUP as the tracking number). Further to this, Australia Post also offers discounted 3kg and 5kg satchels which we use heavily. We don't need Shipstation to generate a configured/paid label for us, just a dumb text label for us to stick onto the satchel. Having a custom shipping method that allows us to handle the "other" 25% of orders that don;t need paid labels generated by ShipStation would mean the software is a complete solution.

  • May 16, 2017
We ship a fair amount of LTL Freight shipments and it would be great to be able to select "Other" or "Custom" and be able to put in the name of the Freight or Courier company. As well perhaps a link to their tracking page would be useful. And also perhaps an option for an address for hold for pick up orders. Also, of course, it would be handy to have some of the Custom shippers saved to save on pasting/typing in subsequent orders.

I'd just like to be able to have an "Other" shipping option I could use for customer pickups (click and collect). Even a shipping option called "Click and Collect" - it would save time and make my workflow even better. Currently I can only manage this with "Mark as Shipped" - "Other" rather than a dedicated, easy, automated solution.

ShipStation is much more than just shipping software -- it's a platform to manage the logistics of a business. In-Store Pickup is very common for us, and it's important that staff who are processing orders be aware of that fulfillment method when seeing the orders list etc. Please create a Service mapping for In-Store Pickup! Thank you! You guys rule! Jason

  • June 28, 2017
Yeah, that's not an elegant solution. This needs to be mapped to the Shipping Service were folks look at shipping services -- not a workaround with tagging. I think you guys would be well advised to incorporate this.

I'd like a slight modification to this request as well. We have a lot of Will Call orders, but we don't print packing slips. I would like to be able to import the order like all my other orders via the API, with a special service/carrier/flag that says the item is Will Call/Local Pickup and be able to "Create" a label for it, that is just a carrier-less/tracking-less label. Creating that label will mark it shipped just like any other label. This way we don't need to change our entire flow just to handle Will Call items, but the label still needs to go on the package/order in the store.

We're a high-volume printer that ships 100+ packages a day. Having the ability to add local carriers is an essential part of our shipping process. We'd LOVE to see this option added.

  • August 1, 2017
Hey guys, I'd just like to add on that we do a lot of customer pick up orders here, and I'd really like an easier way to keep these shipments within the ShipStation workflow. "Custom Shipping Method" just printing a label with the customer information and order number would be enough for me. I don't need anything super fancy, but I understand where the other users are coming from. For my +1, I'd like a way of marking that "Custom Shipping Method" as being actually picked up, but I think I can handle that internally. James

  • August 1, 2017
This should probably be combined with those of us asking for a custom shipping service for these things. I'm in agreement with the OP here. We do a lot of in store pickups as well. The problem is that when you look at the order looking up history, it tends to show up as "No Prior Shipments" if it was "Marked as Shipped" which is confusing to the user.

  • November 21, 2017
How is this still not being handled after 5 years and lots of votes? I'll add my voice to the mix. Local delivery and pickup is incredibly common. We need to be able to print labels with name and address but not connected to a carrier. I would say this should be considered a basic function and a pretty big shortcoming of ShipStation.

  • December 11, 2017
Yes, this creates a whole lot of issues having to have a second, entirely different workflow for these orders. It's a pain in the buttocks to use Tags to achieve this. It's doable, and we do it, it just royally sucks.

  • December 20, 2017
That's a pretty sad workaround. My staff don't worry about tags when they go to ship an order. They merely go to choose the cheapest shipping method possible when they notice that the shipping method seems to be missing. Having In-Store Pickup as a mapped option and also trying to prevent/warn a staff member when they accidentally try to ship an order that's for pickup has already happened numerous times to us, ******* off customers, incurring unnecessary shipping costs, and even in one case the expensive package went missing with the USPS causing a whole fiasco. In-Store Pickup should be able to be mapped as a shipping method. Period. Any silly workaround is just not acceptable for something so fundamental to order fulfillment. You guys should fix this ASAP. I can't imagine it would be hard, and there are no doubt countless users who would appreciate this.

  • December 26, 2017
This feature would be great. I would simply suggest that there is an option to create our own carriers on the carriers list. Like "Local Delivery" or "Will Call". It is really that simple. It would be helpful to be able to manually manage the details status of the delivery by setting it to "Awaiting Pickup", "In-transit", or "Delivered". The key would be managing these types of "shipments" through the same steps as the other carriers in Shipstation (unlike the solution suggested above). The workaround suggested above keeps orders that have been marked "shipped" by carrier "other" in a sort of limbo. All orders, whether delivered by a major carrier or a local delivery person, should be viewable and managed in one place. That is how business works in the real world, and ShipStation should reflect that.

  • January 5, 2018
hello, yes please we need this as well. i have already contacted SS support about this. im glad we are not the only ones.

  • February 1, 2018
This seems like basic, core functionality. You should really provide a way to print a basic from/to mailing label with a choice of "other" for the carrier. You may not be aware of this, but you are not currently partnering with EVERY SINGLE carrier and delivery method that companies use to get their product to their customer. Yet many companies have made SS a core part of their order processing workflow. The inability to handle some percentage of orders for companies that use carriers and methods you don't support is a flaw in your service that could be easily remedied by simply providing an "other" carrier and letting us print a generic label. It's pretty hard to believe that this issue has been sitting in here un-addressed for (at this point) over five years.
