I agree that this feature is necessary. I'm super surprised it's not and has been pending for SO long!

Hi - We would like to send our first time customers a welcome insert in their shipment, and would like a way for Shipstation to segment those customers (either via email or order quantities). Can this be implemented? Thanks, Kent

There should be red box on the Order Details page just like the mutlti QTY red box feature. It needs to light up on this page so its very clear that its a REPEAT customer.

When I hover over a customer name, it shows me the number of previous orders from that customer. This is information I want to be able to see at a glance, instead of having to hover over each name in the list. It would let me quickly identify repeat customers vs. new customers. Better yet, I would like to see the products ordered previously on hover or on click of the number in that column.

This is VERY needed! We have customers that we mail food/meal orders to. We need to have the order frequency listed on the FedEx tracking label to identify which receipes/welcome materials will be sent to the customer.

I agree - this is a very needed feature. Even the ability to add a color coded tag (we do this with Amazon Prime orders for ease of prioritizing shipments) would be helpful as we could click to see the overall order total and previous purchases. Hovering is not enough.

Hello! When will this be implemented? People have been asking for this feature since 2013. It's still not been created.

Hey @Cindy, thanks for checking in. We're still interested in this idea and would like to keep it open while we work on prioritizing it. In the meantime, can you tell us about what kinds of things you'd like to do when tracking your customers orders?

Commenting again to say I'd still like to see this as a feature. Including little extras in customers' orders is common for many of us, and being able to further customize their packages based on how well the customer knows us would make for an even better experience all around. For example, maybe I'd send first time customers a "getting to know us" postcard, or a small gift for customers making their third purchase. It would also be great to easily flag repeat customers who are making their first purchase in over a year, or who has spent a certain amount of money in the past two years. I'd like to be able to include different gifts/info/cards with a customer's order depending on how many times they've purchased from me. Also, being able to filter for e.g. repeat customers who are making their first purchase in over a year would be great.

You already show frequency of customer orders but provided that we hover over customer name, which is extra steps to be done and is cumbersome in the end. Can you make it at least as a column optional where order total from their history with the store will be shown??

As a simple first step, what if you just created a couple of [variables] we could use in our label templates? I would love to print things like [past_spend] or [customer_percentile] right in the margin of the shipping label half of our label pages (we use the pages with the perforated sticker label on one half and the packing slip on the bottom half. It would be simple to print some helpful information into the PDF right above that fold part, so we can see these details when we pick orders but those details will not be printed onto anything that goes to the customer since we tear that top half of the page off after we remove the shipping label sticker. We are going to start using a different e-commerce system that can populate the custom_field1 2 and 3 fields just so we can get this feature, but if it's already being "looked up" when we hover over fields, I just wish we had a few more template [variables] to use that could solve this for us without requiring much in the way of UI changes... Thanks!

YES I NEED THIS! Even a simple star or similar icon next to the buyer name would be sufficient. Maybe with a hover to indicate how many times they've ordered.

Seeing as how the info for repeat customers already exists I cannot imagine it would be too difficult to implement a sorting feature or a tag for someone who has ordered previously. A lot of people have some very specific ideas on how to use this potential feature set, but all I'm looking for is a quick and easy way to identify repeat customers without having to hover over their name.

It would be very helpful if on the Awaiting Shipment page, a column option could be added to the "Columns" drop down menu for "Frequency" or "Orders" so one could see at a glance if a customer is new or returning. The information is currently being collected and can be seen if one runs a report from: Insights tab > Reports > Raw Data Export > Customers. It would just be very convenient to see it on the shipments screen.

We would like to give our first-time customers a little gift within their shipment. We need a way for ShipStation to flag a customer as a "First Time Purchaser" at our website.

I would love love LOVE to have a way to track new customers. So every month I get a list of new customers who have ordered and maybe what they order as well.

Why havent you guys moved on this to create a column to just put a star next to an order to indicate there are previous orders from that customer. Having to hover over the name is a paid in the butt.

PLEASE ADD THIS - this would bypass our automation by flow if the customer is a repeater.. plus help us to determine which gift to add to order.

what's the status on this? We really need this awesome feature!

  • July 30, 2019
Yes, this would be a great feature! Both a number indicator in the open orders list for the number of orders placed (perhaps next to the customer name or in a column of its own), as well as an option to filter and create rules for our repeat customers based off of the number of purchases in a timeframe. You almost have it with feature that shows customer sales history by hovering over the customer name. To have this more readily visible and filterable would be awesome! We would love to have the tools to show our customers who come back how much we appreciate them. Thanks

We really NEED this feature. We produce products and if we know the customer has ordered from us before we'll pull up their layout to make sure we match the design. We just need to know they have ordered before. A simple star would suffice.

YES PLEASE! Crucial for our business and will eliminate a very manual process currently.

7 years later and 217 votes, still not added. Adding an optional column to show the data you already have when you hover over the customer's name would take your IT department an hour. We like a lot of the features your service offers however, don't pretend to listen to customers when you actually ignore them for 7 years.

I am here for this very thing. I would like to see if a customer is new through printing out the packing slips, as we give special treatment to our new customers. As it is I have to sift through all of my orders, hover their order number to find out if they are new. We also give special codes and gifts to people who have ordered x number of times. To be able to have rules set up for this field would be very helpful.

Are you still considering this feature? This would be so helpful for us so we could customize marketing content included in packages. If we have repeat customers, we can reward them for their loyalty, and if they haven't ordered before, we can educate them about our other offerings. We think this would be incredibly helpful!
