FedEx has just come out with a 2 day one rate extra small box. Could this be integrated into ShipStation?

yes it was released last month and is available on their website and a few other third party sites but is not available on ship station as a package option yet. after talking with FedEx today about the issue they confirmed that they are working with Ship Station to try and get it added but had no ETA on when it will get done.

What is taking so long here? It's an API...

We have been trying to switch over to this option for two months now.  It is very frustrating as FedEx keeps telling me it is all on ShipStation’s end.  I love ShipStation, but if they can’t add this soon, it will be a deal breaker for me as it will be 90 percent of my packaging.

Please add the FedEx One Rate Ex-Small as an option.  You have all the other One Rate sizes but this is the size we will be using 80% of the time.  Is there a way to find out if & when this may happen?

We’re running into the same issue and it’s starting to create real operational friction on our end.

We just received a full pallet of the FedEx One Rate Extra Small boxes, and at the moment they’re essentially unusable within ShipStation. That’s tying up inventory, warehouse space, and creating a disconnect between packaging strategy and execution. Based on our current packaging mix, this size would likely cover a large percentage of our shipments as well, so the impact is not minor.

What’s confusing is the timeline. Historically, when UPS introduced new packaging options—like their Extra Small Box—the integration into platforms like ShipStation was relatively quick. This delay feels unusually long given that:

  • This is a standardized One Rate product (not a custom service)
  • FedEx already has the rate and packaging available on their own systems
  • ShipStation already supports all other One Rate sizes

From a technical standpoint, this should be a fairly straightforward addition via the FedEx API (assuming the packaging code has been exposed, which it likely has if other platforms are already supporting it).

Right now, the lack of availability is forcing a few bad options:

  • Reverting to larger boxes (increasing dimensional weight and cost)
  • Holding unused inventory (cash + space impact)
  • Splitting workflows between systems (inefficient and error-prone)

If FedEx is indicating this is on ShipStation’s side, it would be helpful to get clarity on:

  1. Whether the API endpoint for this packaging type is fully available and stable
  2. If ShipStation has already mapped the new packaging code internally
  3. A realistic ETA, even if rough (weeks vs months makes a big difference operationally)

At scale, this isn’t just a missing feature—it directly affects cost structure and fulfillment efficiency.

Would appreciate any concrete update here.
