FedEx has just come out with a 2 day one rate extra small box. Could this be integrated into ShipStation?

yes it was released last month and is available on their website and a few other third party sites but is not available on ship station as a package option yet. after talking with FedEx today about the issue they confirmed that they are working with Ship Station to try and get it added but had no ETA on when it will get done.

Upvoting this post as the chat I had with support tonight stated they still don’t support the extra small one rate box.

What is taking so long here? It's an API...

We have been trying to switch over to this option for two months now.  It is very frustrating as FedEx keeps telling me it is all on ShipStation’s end.  I love ShipStation, but if they can’t add this soon, it will be a deal breaker for me as it will be 90 percent of my packaging.

Please add the FedEx One Rate Ex-Small as an option.  You have all the other One Rate sizes but this is the size we will be using 80% of the time.  Is there a way to find out if & when this may happen?

We’re running into the same issue and it’s starting to create real operational friction on our end.

We just received a full pallet of the FedEx One Rate Extra Small boxes, and at the moment they’re essentially unusable within ShipStation. That’s tying up inventory, warehouse space, and creating a disconnect between packaging strategy and execution. Based on our current packaging mix, this size would likely cover a large percentage of our shipments as well, so the impact is not minor.

What’s confusing is the timeline. Historically, when UPS introduced new packaging options—like their Extra Small Box—the integration into platforms like ShipStation was relatively quick. This delay feels unusually long given that:

  • This is a standardized One Rate product (not a custom service)
  • FedEx already has the rate and packaging available on their own systems
  • ShipStation already supports all other One Rate sizes

From a technical standpoint, this should be a fairly straightforward addition via the FedEx API (assuming the packaging code has been exposed, which it likely has if other platforms are already supporting it).

Right now, the lack of availability is forcing a few bad options:

  • Reverting to larger boxes (increasing dimensional weight and cost)
  • Holding unused inventory (cash + space impact)
  • Splitting workflows between systems (inefficient and error-prone)

If FedEx is indicating this is on ShipStation’s side, it would be helpful to get clarity on:

  1. Whether the API endpoint for this packaging type is fully available and stable
  2. If ShipStation has already mapped the new packaging code internally
  3. A realistic ETA, even if rough (weeks vs months makes a big difference operationally)

At scale, this isn’t just a missing feature—it directly affects cost structure and fulfillment efficiency.

Would appreciate any concrete update here.

Any updates on when this will be done? We are ready to use this box. It has been months.

Still waiting…. and we’re still PAYING!!!

Official FedEx documentation and rate sheets explicitly note it as "available effective February 2, 2026

Over 3 months.  Why so long?

Adding my voice to this thread. It's been over two months since this was first raised, and the lack of any concrete update from ShipStation is becoming hard to understand.

This isn't a niche request. FedEx has publicly released the Extra Small One Rate box, every other One Rate size is already supported here, and the API integration is presumably the same pattern used for the existing sizes. Other customers in this thread have laid out the operational and financial impact clearly.

What we need from ShipStation, ideally in this thread is a  realistic ETA.

Just chatting with support over this issue shows they have no understanding or clue of the real issue and impact here.

My submissions keep getting flagged and not posted.  This not being implemented costs us hundreds each week.   I wish they would enable this quickly.

Hi everyone, thank you for being active community members! Your feedback helps shape our platform.

I can confirm that our developer team is not only aware of this request but working to get the package type implemented.

Once we are given an ETA I will share that and will keep you all updated.

Option to leave review here: https://www.g2.com/sellers/shipstation-ae267914-5d4a-4ea6-842f-b551bba76ee6

Maybe Shipstation will care more about reviews that are public rather than on these forums.

Happy that it made the radar - everyone above are correct that this is costing all of us real money with every delay from your team. Evaluating other platforms is starting to look like the only option. Please at least try to provide a time-table if you want to keep us as customers.

3 more weeks…. any updates to this ?

Over four months since FedEx launched the Extra Small Box and we are still waiting on a native dropdown update. Ridiculous. Costing many of us hundreds to thousands a month.

Is there a status update?  Since ShipStation has the other One Rate products why is it taking 5 months to add this additional package type?

I got a call today from Shipstation...I initially thought that it might be the help desk finally addressing this issue...nope a salesman letting me know that they were “merged” with Worldwide Express….who is basically UPS.  They are UPS’s third party broker.  My bet is now that this is happening, we will never see FedEx updates, because why would they give the competition a leg up?  This guy spent 30 minutes trying to sell me on a higher tier program and to switch over from FedEx.   I loathe UPS.  They have the absolute worst packaging handling and customer service, so it looks like I will be researching the competition.  After being a shipstation customer for 7 years, this is probably the last straw for me.

This really needs to be addressed. Why do we have to wait so long for such a simple fix.

with Amazon buy we usually get refund if purchased small box but shipped in extra small.   Did not test it with shipstation

But yes. this feature is most needed

Also in the same boat as all other posters in this thread. While the Extra Small Box is only something I use a few times a week, the fact that this package option has not been added after months of requests seems intentional on the part of ShipStation. Please address this issue, whether you are pro-UPS / anti-Fedex, as we pay a monthly service fee for ShipStation and Fedex is considered Major Integrated Carrier. If you are not willing to adjust the options provided on a carrier on your software (that we pay for), be up front with your customers so we can research alternative options for shipping our packages.

Do we have an update on this issue? We want to roll this box size out to our customers and are unable to do so due to the delay. The box size is optimal for a large amount of our small goods and can potentially reduce damage in transit and cost.

Should I reach out to our FedEx Rep and ask them to look into the delay?

ffsdgsdfghdfgh

I talked to Veeqo support (since they don’t have extra small box as well, even though its available if you purchase label directly from Amazon)  They told me that Fedex is not interested in offering this feature through resellers  (like shipstation) as they want merchants to buy labels directly from them.

A little inconvenient but the prices are actually better than through the shipstation for all box sizes, so…

Regarding the request for the "Extra Small Box" package type. I wanted to follow up and assure you all that your request has been officially passed along to our developers and added to our product roadmap.

At this stage, we don't have an exact ETA for when it will be implemented, but I will update this thread as soon as I hear anything. We are so grateful for your feedback and your patience while our team works on bringing this feature to life.
