Why has there been no advancement on this for 2 years? Customers need the ability to create multiple packages with API, and automation rules specifically. Please re-open this issue and add this badly needed functionality.

Really need to be able to assign multiple packages using automation rules. The bulk of our orders are for single SKU's which require shipment in two packages. This means that we must manually assign package sets to each shipment. We should be able to do this with rules. Please investigate improving this functionality.

This needs to be added to API asap. Almost all my orders are MPS and the SS web app MPS interface is terrible. Lots of folks willing to write their own solution if you would allow access from external API calls.

  • August 24, 2017
This is a basic feature. The lack of it is severely limiting any usefulness SS gives to my site. This is an issue my competitors do not have. If this enhancement isn't forthcoming soon, I will need to find a better solution.

I agree with many of the comments here. ShipStation is overall a great tool. Multiple packages is it's biggest weakness for our use case. The ability to create multiple package shipments via API would be a great enhancement.

The ability to set package quantity via automation rules and/or bulk edits is critical for our business. The current process of manually updating the package quantity for each order is extremely time consuming and prone to errors.

Over 2 years old and no movement? Multiple packages must be able to be automated. Why would this not be standard functionality to apply a package set to an order with automation rules?

  • November 22, 2017
When will this be rolled out?

  • December 1, 2017
Please add us a strong supporters for this functionality. We are setting up Shipstation right now & in the middle of preparing to switch from another shipping software. ShipStation is noticeably better but this is a function that will make it far better in meeting the needs of many sellers & will be a very significant improvement. Our products & the orders we receive are of the type that will greatly benefit from this Automatic Multi packages; this will make us far more efficient with less potential for errors.

I agree with all the comments here. This feature is a necessity. Would love to hear an update from ShipStation.

Any update on this? This is a big challenge as it makes it a less than automated process where it should be easy to automate. Plus this will also allow us to easily match what items in which package by being able to create the multi-packages with API. which is increasingly required for many platforms and also when customers file claims, you know what items are missing and what they got.

Wondering if any update on this MPS feature.

This would be a incredibly useful feature for larger organizations who ship large packages on a regular basis.Clicking into each order and adding a second package is untenable. Any idea if this is being considered for implementation?

  • June 19, 2018
Thanks for checking in on this one. We’re still interested in this idea and we don’t have a timeline on it. It isn’t on our immediate roadmap but it’s one we’d like to keep open.

I don't know how, but this needs to be cross linked with the post about automation rules being able to assign package sets. I would guess that the lack of functionality to assign package sets with automation rules is tied to the fact that there is not API integration for multiple packages (which package sets are). Almost every single one of our orders requires multiple packages. This means that we have to manually process almost every single order. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE we need this!

  • July 30, 2018
Please make this happen! This is critical for dropshippers as well.

  • August 22, 2018
As other have mentioned before me this should be cross linked to post with automation rules regarding package sets. We would love to see this with an API option but this is something that can be easily implemented on a manage product level with a checkbox to mark SKU's if they ship individually. Lets make this happen as going through multiple orders a day and assigning packages and weights is extremely tedious.

As discussed by others, it is preferable at least to have web app buttons to support multiple-package function.

  • October 3, 2018
When will the rate request and order creation supports Multiple Package Items from API. This is a very basic feature which has been missed out and we cannot move to shipstation until this problem is not solved.

  • December 1, 2018
This is a big need for our company. We still have human error in shipping because you can't automate mutiple packages logic. We need both automation rules for packaging and the ability to create orders with multiple packages via the API. Automation Rules: If item = x and qty = y this use z pre-saved packaging rule.

you guys need to make this happen , this is a must

  • March 13, 2019
The fact that it has been almost 6 years and this automation still hasn't been put into effect is so aggravating.

Obtaining the package count via the API would be incredibly helpful.

  • July 25, 2019
After going live with the API today, the multiple parcel count per consignment is an absolute must. Our wholesale side of the business can have one order of 30 boxes so we would have to create 30 labels each on it's own consignment and pay our carrier for each consigment!! I have email support and this feature is built in the main user interface, why not build it into your API even if it takes a bit more development!! Please can this be made a priority as we need this to continue shipping.

Yikes. Make sure you let larger shippers know about this before they switch to your platform.
