Please make auto printing a feature. This would help a lot!

I can't believe you can't detect an unsuccessful print--I thought that was one of the reasons you built ShipStation Connect. As for other products? InstantLabel does this, as does Shipworks. SAP has this facility as well.

It would be super useful to show if the packing slip has been printed in the AWAITING SHIPMENT view - this is where I see new orders (and know if I need to print a packing slip or not) NOT in the SHIPMENT view!

This is such an important feature to us that I don't know if we can work without it. We just started onboarding with ShipStation, but we might have to go somewhere else if we cannot find some way to work around this. Our previous solution could Auto-print packing slips when a new order came in, so I thought it was a no-brainer that ShipStation could do it. I was quite wrong. For our workflow, it wouldn't matter if the process was real-time or scheduled (run rule every 10 minutes, for example). What matters is having a clean way to print NEW orders only so our team can keep track of orders in production. We don't want duplicates, and we certainly don't want to miss an order. In our previous system, this action was triggered every five minutes. It worked great most of the time, but there were some rare occasions where the slip did not print for some reason. In these situations, we would usually find out about the issue on the day the order in question was due to be shipped. Not ideal, but our workflow at least allowed us to re-print the missing order and move on. The point here is I would rather have a feature that is not 100% perfect than have no feature at all. Even if ShipStation cannot tell if an order printed successfully, that is OK. It's not ideal, but it is OK. Just put up a disclaimer notifying us to be alert for any failures and work toward a better way to monitor for failures. I love ShipStation, and I was over the moon with joy to be coming back to it. The interface is FAR superior to what we were on before and the customizations are a breath of fresh air compared to our previous solution. However, this one missing feature has thrown a massive wrench into my plans. I still love ShipStation, but I am definitely less confident in my decision to return.

Hello, There is a workaround to get this done. We had to get some custom development just to get this completed. Since I am a software developer, we have managed to get every new order to automatically print as it comes in to ShipStation. The method used was Zapier + PrintNode. Unfortuantly there are no out of the box apps for Zapier and PrintNode, so we created a custom PrintNode App just to integrate with Zapier. It is a premium solution (Not free ~ $25 USD per month) but it works like a charm and it is worth every penny. Once it is configured, our production life is that much better!! But I do agree, this is a "No-brainer" solution, that shipstation should have implemented years ago.

I wish that I knew that it was not possible to automatically print packing slips before I switched to ShipStation. I would have chosen a different solution and we are probably going to move on asap. I am also amazed that this has been a feature that has been requested since 2012 and has not been addressed. Not pleased!

I agree.  We currently use another app in Bigcommerce to auto print packing slips.  It is not an efficient use of time to manually print 200-500 orders each week.  When they print automatically staff members simply grab the order, pick it and line it up ready to ship on shipping day.  We ship perishable plants so our fulfillment process may be a little different to others.

Shipping easy has this.  It's needed for shipstation.

@SuperMgr-Sarah any updates on this? It seems that it’s essential for all of us and I see you’ve moved it to under review.

Me to...Shipstation needs to add this instant print label when new order comes in.  Please add and deploy this feature!

We really need this feature as well. Not all of our staff require access to Shipstation or a computer. If the staff in charge of printing goes on break or has something to do, the other staff just wait around. I would like to see this added as an automation as well, being able to choose which printer, or which orders, or how many copies would be extremely useful.

Add me to this list. I can't believe it isn't a feature.

This would be great!

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone found a workaround to this issue? I would love to hear from any other shippers who may have some ideas, as I have been unable to make this work.

Are there any updates on this feature @SuperMgr-Sarah?

Hey there @ja54_2

We do not yet have an automatic printing feature, but I do appreciate the desire for this type of feature. We are always looking into what changes can be made, in the future so if we see any movement on this idea i'll update this thread accordingly 🙂

Has anyone been able to achieve this by using Zapier? Perhaps a zap between ShipStation and https://www.ezeep.com/ ?

  • November 28, 2023

It is wild that this is not possible yet...

I have been able to do this with an app I created outside of shipstation. We have processed thousands of orders this way. If anyone is interested they can email me dan@dsotechnologies.com

Please put "Packing Slip Printed" status column on Orders page.

@BobbyT  we could be thinking the same thing if you could filter out the printed packing slips you could use a stream deck and print the latest orders just by pushing one button

Hello, @BobbyT!

Thank you for your patience while we reviewed your feature request—I’m thrilled to share some great news! Users can now add a 'Packing Slip Printed' column in the orders grid and even filter by printed or not printed. It works just like it does on the Shipments tab, giving you more control and visibility!

We're also aware that this thread includes a request for the ability to print labels automatically. While that feature hasn’t been released yet, the developers are looking into how this might be possible.

Happy Shipping!

We aren't requested the ability to print labels automatically. We need packing slips to print automatically when orders come in. We receive hundreds of orders per day and needing to constantly update and print is extremely time consuming. I definitely don't want labels printing automatically.

Hello, @jeff7!

Thank you for the clarification! I’ll make sure this feedback is shared with the developers so they have a clear understanding of your request.

Have a wonderful day!

Bump. I'm interested in automatically downloading packing slips once new orders are received rather than sending them straight to the printer, but same idea.
