This is a MUST!

We would greatly benefit from having this feature added. Each of our products uses a box as its packaging so we need separate shipping labels for each. The ability to split based on quantity would be great.

Our products are stored in multiple warehouse locations. Online orders spanning multiple warehouses (Shopify locations) have to be split manually in Shipstation. We have to do this every morning and it's laborious and error-prone.

We also need this for our primary order flow. The use cases must be many, even if we don't market this feature proposal for you. Essentially, ANYONE who has multiple dropship partners working with them to fulfill orders (aka a very common business model on the internet) needs this feature, because a customer can VERY commonly check out with one product from one dropship partner, and another product from a different dropship partner, and so on. That's not an edge case. That's a common use case. Manually splitting the orders seems to be a perfect example of a repetitive and formulaic task that the software should be doing instead of a person. All of the products are named, or have SKUs, so it's easy enough for the user to list out which products would be in one basket, and others in another, given the simple UI to create split groups and list products there... Why is this feature taking so long? It seems pretty straightforward from a programming standpoint (I am a developer). Pseudo code would be like... // if order's line items match rule... // Loop each line item // split order into as many orders as there are matching line items in different product groups marked for splits... // done! It's something one programmer could do in a month or two. You guys probably have dozens if not hundreds of programmers. It's a pretty common business case. Why has it been 5 years? I am available to help develop this, if needed, but I have a 10 person company, I think you probably have a lot more resources than I do. Please make this feature happen! Thanks!

please do this. I've got some items that are FBA, and some that aren't, and i'd like to be able to split orders based on item/sku

Another +1 for the split based on Product SKUs

This would be the single biggest improvement you could make to your system at this time.

Hey guys. I'm interested. Is this a thing yet?

  • November 16, 2019
YES PLEASE! I need this rule ASAP! This is absolutely crucial. We have multiple warehouses, each warehouse carries a different item. We need to be able to split orders automatically so that we can ship from multiple locations with ease. This needs to be implemented ASAP! Please shipstation!

Please add this feature - it's 2019 and I can't believe this hasn't been added yet. You have a lot of high volume shippers!

Similarly, if an order is found to be missing an item, we need to be able to mark the shipped order and create a shipment to ship the missed item. From the same order form as the initial order shipment.

We really need this feature too. In fact, it could be a dealbreaker for whether we adopt Shipstation long term after our trial. We have some products that can be fulfilled automatically but without a way to split them into their own shipments automatically, we are back to doing it manually. That would mean Shipstation is actually a step backwards for us compared to the way we do it now (e-commerce site linked directly to fulfillment providers) Please give strong consideration to this!

Add me to the list that needs this feature BADLY!

Shopify automatically splits orders into multiple shipments for each available location based on the location shipping priority rule. Why can't Shipstation just download those orders as split with the correct ship from location exactly how they appear in Shopify?

Any word on this? We have digital files associated with one of our shops (integration with a service called Pledgemanager) and to split the PDFs from the physical products automatically would save a lot of time and effort. There are hundreds of orders to sift through, and it would be great if I could separate the PDF orders from actual physical copies of the books we sell. Thanks!

Please add this feature. We ship hazmat items that have complicated maximum quantity rules so we always get nervous when we receive large orders.

We ship with multi location inventory from Shopify. I am very disappointed to see that Shipstation has yet to come to the table with a solution to this. I have found a multitude of forums where people are going nuts due to the inability to split orders automatically. Hopefully Shipstation will come to terms and work on this, or I am definitely taking both of my accounts elsewhere as soon as I find someone offering better solution than hours of unnecessary and redundant manual order splitting. PLEASE SHIPSTATION - Do something about this

Please allow this feature! This would help so much. It's been two years now and all you've done is work on a new UI that everyone hated instead of listening to customers lol

We are extremely interested in this! We have some fragile items that ship separately every time and would like to split the orders automatically.

This would be a very useful feature for us as well. We use ShipStation with Quickbooks Enterprise, using Connex to sync orders to ShipStation and shipping info back to Quickbooks. We created rules in Connex to place customer 3rd party shipping account numbers in custom field 1, and customer PO# in custom field 2. We also created automation rules in ShipStation to change billing to 3rd party based on custom field 1. This is working great, except it doesn't work in combination with split shipments. Once we split a shipment (after 3rd party rule has been applied), billing reverts back to recipient and 3rd party account needs to be rein put manually. Here's what we would like to see happen when splitting a shipment (whether split manually or based on the rule requested in the original post): - Billing for the first shipment should stay on 3rd party, and all subsequent shipments for the order should automatically be set to 3rd party as well. - Shipping notes should be copied from the first shipment to all subsequent shipments (we need the info in the custom fields to be copied over when items are moved to a new shipments) In regard to the PO# in custom field 2 - Many of our customers require each box to have a packing slip with scannable PO#. This is the main reason we use split shipments. We created a custom packing slip but we need the PO# in custom field 2 for each shipment. Right now we are copying it manually after moving products to new shipments. So instead of copying shipping notes manually, and re-inputing 3rd party accounts manually, having automation functionality for split shipments, as well the fixing some of the quirks mentioned above will greatly improve our workflow.

Any movement on this? I have an issue where a customer is selling a pre-order and if this pre-order is within an order we want to ship the other items out first.

  • July 3, 2020
Could really do with this too. A lot of our orders contain items that are available for immediate dispatch and also items with a future ship date (like a pre order). We'd really like to be able to create a rule that auto-splits any order if certain criteria are matched (i.e. split item into new order if SKU contains 'xyz' or if product title contains 'abc'). At the moment this has to be done manually, each day for hundreds of orders, which is prone to human error, and take a LOT of time. Please, please implement something like this.

I would like to see this feature so I can automatically split shipments based on quantity. I have only shipping packaging for a single unit of my one SKU, and while orders of multiple units are rare, they do happen, and the rarity combined with the ShipStation interface makes them easy to miss. I would use this feature to automatically make sure that every unit ordered prints a label, preventing me from missing multiple-unit orders in the future.

  • July 18, 2020
PLEASE! make this feature to auto-split orders!? and make it so that it can split according to variant name (not only SKU!) We change our variant names back and fourth from "small" to small - pre-order"
