It would be nice if I could have automations be triggered by information ShipStation is receiving from the scale instead of only triggering on import.

For example

While in "Scan to verify and Print" we are scanning each item and then placing it in the packaging (the packaging is sitting on the scale). Once all products have been verified, it moves over to "Create Label" where it takes the weight of the package. At this point, it would be nice if this would trigger an automation to choose the service based on the "requested" and the weight from the scale. So if requested is First Class shipping and the weight is under 1lb then it chooses First Class. If the requested is First Class shipping and the weight is over 1lb then it chooses Priority shipping.

I would be in favor of this. Especially if incorporated with a Live Scale where we don’t have to click on the Scale icon every time.

I built a chrome extension for making more granulated automation rule runs in Shipstation, called ShipExtension. It can read the Shipstation DOM, so having automation rules run off of scale weight changes in the UI is possible. It would complete the fully automated flow if that’s what’s necessary at your volume. Are your product weights not being used in your current automation rules?

@yohei We are not currently using product weights in our automation rules. We scale each order individually. It would be a great help to us if SS would automatically activate the scale upon the opening of an order. Thanks.
