I am still using shipworks to do in-house shipping because shipstation is not able to do one simple job of printing labels in a thermal printer and then automatically print the packing slip in a laser printer. In SS, you can only choose to print 4x6 thermal label followed by 4x6 packing slip, OR 8x11 paper label followed by 8x11 packing slip. I see someone said they can click second time on a batch to print all packing slips. But sometimes we only have one (1) order and we have to fish for the order in shipped once the 4x6 thermal label prints. Now that SS use the shipstation connect, I still don't see a way to print a 4x6 thermal label followed by a 8x11 packing slip on a different printer.

I was just online with support about this and I don't know why it's such a big deal to do this if everything is set up correctly. We just set up a thermal printer after using just a regular paper one for all our labels so we're used to the packing list coming out with the label. I hope this gets enough traction - it seems silly this isn't already happening.

'@everyone - Thanks for your patience! I noticed one of the challenges brought up here was if a shipper forgot to print packing slips after creating labels there isn't an easy way to find that out (or vice versa). Are there other challenges out there, or is this the main concern you all have? @ken marek absolute yogi - To avoid fishing around for orders after you've created labels, you can change what happens to the order in the grid. Go to Account Settings > Display Options > Orders tab > "When Order Status Changes > set this to "Grey out the order". This way the order will not disappear from your view and you can still select and print packing slips for it. Alternatively, if you like how orders disappear from the grid once a label is created, I recommend changing up your workflow to print the order's packing slip before creating a label. @susanr - Have you looked into printing a packing slip inline with the label? This way you can keep all of your labels and packing slips grouped together. This may be a hair more expensive in dollar value, but this can save money in time by not shuffling sheets of paper. You can see what this label format looks like in Account Settings > Printing > Printing Setup > Labels > Document Options.

I'll be honest; I did have it set up to print the packing slips with the label printer originally. I really hate the way it looks so I turned it off right away.

I recently changed to Shipstation from Shipworks. While using Shipworks for many years I had the ability to print both the shipping label and the packing slip at the SAME time automatically. I use a 4X6" Shipping label and a 8.5X11" Packing slip. That is NOT a SIMPLE option with Shipstation. It should be. I am amazed that this is not a simple button option under Shipping Label Format

Efficiency. 2 buttons takes extra time. And if you're trying to collate packages into shipping methods and then print the packing slips and labels, it's not just 2 buttons instead of 1. It's 16 buttons instead of 8. Overall I'm not impressed so far on the efficiency of clicks in ShipStation, especially for a company so dedicated to efficiency that it created the whole automation rule functionality (which is great by the way).

Your link is dead: http://support.shipstation.com/forums/126593-request-a-new-shipstation-feature/suggestions/4446885-print-thermal-shipping-labels-in-conjunction-with Can you post the correct url or put the procedure here to print packing slip and shipping label simultaneously?

A feature that allows printing the packing slip by ITEM SKU numbers would be fantastic for our business! Sadly it is not yet a feature as I was informed by customer support :(

Hi, The same formats as normal e.g. 4x6", but with the option to print different components e.g.: -Shipping Label -Packing Slip -Label & Slip

The option to print labels for multi-piece shipments on separate sheets when using 8.5 x 11 format would be very important for our business. Currently it prints two labels on one sheet, which means my warehouse has to cut/tear the sheet to apply to two different pieces.

Hi, I hope these print label/packing slip function can flexibly apply to different store. Each store can have different print labels option.

I strongly agree with this suggestion. I've been a user for 4-5 years. I, on a daily basis, need to re-print only the shipping label for an order; so I unfortunately am always throwing away extra labels because I already have the packing slip printed. I can obviously go out of my way to print it via browser or PDF and then print only the shipping label but honestly it's not worth the extra time & steps. For us, nothing would need to change in regard to document/label formats.. Our packing slips & labels are always 4x6, just needing the 3 options in the print button drop-down, as Alex Gierczyk mentioned --- Packing Slip | Shipping Label | Both

We have a 4x6 label printer for the shipping labels and an 8.5x11 printer for packing slips. When we print a 4x6 shipping label we need the 8.5x11 slip will be printed automatically. We need to print shipping labels and packing slips on two different printers at the same time using one button.

This would be a great feature, when using the "create label" button it sends to the 4x6 label printer, it auto prints an invoice on 8.5x11. Its part of the daily work flow, now we have to create label first, then choose from the "Docs" or "print" menu to select print invoice. its 2 separate steps, that could easily be one. Could this please be a toggle checkbox option? Perhaps some don't need it, but most of us do and would be a great help! Not everyone makes use of the batch label and invoice function. We do them one at a time, and this would be an important improvement. In fact it is the only single feature we find missing from Shipstation that is available in other software!

I too want to send label and packing slip print jobs simultaneously to two different printers. Our packing slips are better suited to 8.5" x 11" sheets of paper so the inline on the label printer feature doesn't cut it for our business.

YESSSS!!! I have to manually type in odd numbers every SINGLE time i print so that it just prints the label!!!!! This is very tedious and time consuming and leaves room for error if you miss a # - you can miss printing a label!

It would be great if there was an option to print the shipping label to one printer and the packing slip to another. Right now if you want to print both automatically when printing a shipping label you can only do to one printer. A lot of us print shipping label to a printer like a rollo and then print packing slip to a standard ink/laser printer. Would save a lot of time and clicks to have it print to both at the same time. Right now a common result is if you forget to print the packing slip before printing the shipping label you have to go to the orders tab, click the order and then click print packing slip. A little bit of a pain. Thanks, Sean Napier

Will this ever get accomplished? Its very frustrating that this option doesn't work.

We want to have nicer packing slips using 8x11 paper but still use a thermal printer for the shipping labels. Please consider adding functionality to allow separate packing slip and label printers when shipping an order - so they both print at the same time from separate printers.

I was stuck handling the pack and ship side of the business today. I could not take the constant click, click, clicking. In a little under an hour, I coded a shortcut key that handles all of that constant clicking. I'd be happy to help anyone else consolidate all of their clicks and Shipstation adjustments into a single shortcut key or button press.

I use 8.5 x 11 sheets which contain two labels per sheet. I would like to have the packing slip and label be on the same sheet, is this possible? Basically, I would just cut the paper in half.

  • August 14, 2020
Voted! When printing labels, the shipstation connect sends them to my label printer just fine but I need to manually send them to the packing slip printer. How to fix this? I suppose it should be a setting by now but I cant find it in the document options or anywhere else.

Currently, you can only print packing slips using the same printer that prints your shipping label. We would like to be able to print packing slips on a secondary printer at the same time the shipping label is printed. We use the auto-peel function for shipping labels since it's faster, but can't have the packing slip printing on the same printer because it will also be peeled.
