Sice I’m selling through Shopify with VAT included in the price, I need to display the ex-VAT amount on the customs declaration instead of the full price. Atthe moment I have to do this manually for every order. Would it be possible to toggle an option so that item cost is displayed minus the VAT in customs forms automatically? It would save me a ton of time.

Hi blckdrgnprss,

An automatic 'deduct VAT' toggle is a great feature idea, and I am happy to pass that feedback along to our Product team.

In the meantime, you don't actually have to do this manually on every order! You can automate this right now by using Product Defaults in ShipStation.

You can set a specific Customs Value for each of your items inside ShipStation. When you set this value, ShipStation will automatically use it on the customs declaration instead of the full Shopify selling price.

Here is how to set it up:

  1. Go to the Products tab in ShipStation.

  2. Click on a product to open its details.

  3. Navigate to the Customs section.

  4. In the Customs Value field, enter your ex-VAT amount for that item.

  5. Click Save.

Hi Juan,

Your solution doesn’t work since my shop mostly sells to international customers and they pay in their currency, so the price fluctuates alongside currency fluctuations. I literally have to go order by order for accurate reporting.

Thank you for considering the request.

Hi blckdrgnprss,

That makes sense.

You’re welcome, I’ll update you if I hear any updates.
