Please enable a feature that you can choose what printer will print labels. To be more specific: we want to print International Priority and express with the regular printer and the rest of the labels in the 4x6 printer.

Yes I really need this!

Also would be good for me! I need to print a packing slip on a regular piece of paper and shipping label to a 4x6 which is two different printers.

Something new came up today regarding this feature. End User wanted to be able to optionally print the Customs Forms to a different printer than the label printer because she sends them as 8.5 x 11 in an shipping pouch instead of adhering to box. This burns a lot of her label stock.

Yes, you actually cannot adhere the customs forms needed for Priority Mail International directly to box. USPS says you have to put the forms in a pouch. With the shipping program we have used in the past, the Priority Mail International forms automatically print to our desktop printer with two forms per page. When would then cut the pages in half and stick them in a pouch. With Shipstation, these forms print onto 4 labels automatically. I then have to go into the shipments page and reprint the labels onto paper. They print out onto 4 pieces of paper and we then have to trim the access paper off. I considered sticking the labels in the pouch without peeling off the backing, but was concerned about whether the post office could stamp them without smearing.

I typically open the "General Settings" in a separate tab in my browser, and switch between formats when required. We normally use the 8.5x11 label/invoice, but for many of our "daily deals," we only use 4x6 thermal labels.

This would be helpful for us as well. We currently use the 8.5x11 labels, but it would be nice to print to the blank labels on one printer, and to the UPS-supplied labels on another printer, and the UPS International on a third printer.

Agreed, assigning a printer to a label would be fantastic. I have the same challenge, manually switching between 4x6 for my FedEx and 8.5x11 for my USPS Priority International. Having to change general settings from shipment to shipment doesn't make much sense.

You might want to add your vote(s) to this similar feature request that has been gaining some momentum. http://support.shipstation.com/forums/126593-request-a-new-shipstation-feature/suggestions/2420804-printing-with-two-printers

And, it is nearly impossible to do what we would like, one facility shipping mostly international (8.5x11) the other mostly domestic (4x6). The label format should not be a general setting, but perhaps user-specific in our case. Or, maybe order specific so a rule can set the label for international orders.

these votes should be combined: http://support.shipstation.com/forums/126593-request-a-new-shipstation-feature/suggestions/3479114-box-label This would be great to have different label sizes for different users or just the option to choose different preset formats when you click the print button for any user. http://support.shipstation.com/forums/126593-request-a-new-shipstation-feature/suggestions/3032577-multiple-users-should-have-individual-print-config

While we agree the features are closely related, they're not the same thing, unfortunately. The over-arching request is, of course, "More print options" but there are so many different types of "print options" that it's near impossible to have a request like that and ever call it done. That being said, printing with two printers and allowing different print configurations/printers per user are technically two different things. In addition, the print configurations could technically mean that one person prints only labels 4x6, and another prints 4x6 packing slips and labels. As such, the requests will remain separate, even though we do understand the two are related.

I have the same issue We have been printing international labels on our 4x6 printer without any issues....then we got a call from usps saying that our barcodes are unreadable with their scans please add this feature

Same issue. We would like to see default printer settings according to what type of document is being printed. Shipping labels should default to zebra printer while packing lists and other full size documents default to 8.5x11 printer. We may occasionally need to override the defaults but it would be far better than manually changing printers for every transaction.

  • November 12, 2013
Is it possible to have a default printer set for a specific user account? We have two shipping stations setup, and they each have their own label printer. Both label printers are showing up in ShipStation through Google Cloud Print, but if a user logs out and then logs in again, the default printer appears to be changing. Is there a way we can assign a printer to a specific user account so that they always use the same one?

Right now if I want to print customs forms for USPS priority mail I am forced to go into settings and to select 8.5x11 two per page. When I want to return to domestic printing I need to go back into settings and change it back to 4x6 paper. I would like a separate setting for which printer to send customs documents for USPS.

  • October 28, 2014
We ship International orders every day. Reconfiguring the printer settings multiple times every day is not a reasonable workaround. This is so inconvenient it is forcing us to consider other shipping packages. Endicia's Dazzle can support multiple printer selection. ShipStation already supports printer selection for things like a scan form. It really should support printer selection for customs forms.

I agree with this one. So far, I've let the customs forms print on 4x6 labels and I'm just hoping they go through OK that way.

The ability to map a shipping label’s size based on the service which is requested. For example, if an order is shipping USPS Priority Mail the label prints at 4” x 6”. If the order is shipping as USPS Priority Mail International, the label prints at 8.5” x 11”. If an order comes in with either requested service, then when "Create Label' is pressed, it auto generates it in the preferred size.

I would like to have the ability to select a printer based on the carrier. Let's say I'm shipping Fedex, I want to use the printer fedex gave me (Printer A). If I'm shipping USPS, I want the label to automatically print on USPS Printer (PRINTER B). This would save a lot of time!

We need a feature in ShipStation to print shipping labels on different printers with different label sizes, depending on the package shipping method and/or address type. For example, all domestic orders print on the regular 4x6 thermal labels, but International orders print on regular letter paper in our laser printer. The 4x6 labels are quite small to place in the USPS customs form envelopes, plus they're hard to read. We tried printing them on a letter sheet of paper but they are still the 4x6 size rather than half-page size. We just signed up with ShipStation and are quite surprised it didn't have this functionality!

I find it very hard to believe ShipStation has not implemented the feature to set defaults to different printers or Domestic and International shipments. Sure I can prompt for it to ask which printer I want to use before printing a label, but that pretty much makes the ShipConnect feature obsolete. All other competitors makes this feature easy.

  • May 18, 2015
Any word on this? This is a no-brainer. USPS Priority Int'l and Express labels are meant to be sized as regular half-sheets of paper and are too small when printed on 4x6 labels. How has this not been done yet?

  • May 21, 2015
Why hasn't this been implemented??

seriously I need this...
