If an order has a transportation cost above a certain amount (ie $200) it would be nice to have some sort of message pop up indicating that a different carrier should be used. This would be helpful to alert our numerous warehouse employees that they need to do something different vs their normal routine.

I absolutely see why you would want this type of notification or alert.
I'll move this over to our ideas section so that other terrific community members can vote for this idea as well!
Similarly, if the cost to ship exceeds around 30% of the total order value, it would be helpful to warn the shipper to suggest a different shipping method. Or even require a second user to approve.
