I would love to be able to determine product counts through the API. This allows me to do things like automatically order certain things as they run low on stock. We have different manufacturers sending products to a single warehouse and it is very tedious to have a manual process around checking that the quantity that was received was the proper amount, and that we aren't running low on things like packing slips.

It would be nice to have the ability to modify the inventory stock levels through the API. It is nice having it in the front end, but if it cannot communicate with anything else, it is half-useful to us.

(This should also include viewing of inventory via the API)

Yes -- this is absolutely key. Our integration depends on the API and without inventory access, we can't do some of the basic key things we need to be able to do.

Inventory CRUD via API. (Create Read Update Delete). Need this to make the inventory gear turn :) Or, simply add the Stock property to the Product model so that we can read and change it.

The ability to retrieve the qty Available (after allocation) and push that information upstream to my stores would be of great benefit.

Exactly! At least give the access to pull the inventory counts from it!

We're getting a Shopify app developed. This app would enable us to sell bundled products on Shopify. But as we use ShipStation for fulfillment, we needed the API to support Inventory CRUD (Create Read Update Delete) or atleast Read and Update. So this feature would actually be great to have.

Full CRUD implementation of OnHand, Allocated, and Available inventory items should be available along with respective location/warehouse fields. I see this is tagged as "planned" for 5/15/19, any updates on if/when we can expect to see this?

Please add the ability to access the current inventory count for a product through the API. It is very important for any process to be fully automated. Thank you!

Is this happening? It's apparently been 'planned' since May 15 2019? How long for features to go from planned to implemented and live? An api to CRUD the inventory of an item would be awesome.

This is also something we are currently in need of and would love to see this integrated into the API.

Exposing inventory count to the API would be a huge step for automating inventory processes. Would love to see this feature soon.

Currently, if we want to manage inventory on Shipstation we need to get inventory levels back to the eCommerce platform. But as I got notified inventory is not part of the API (Why??) just add another attribute on the product record that is returned with API for stock level - should be easy. no?

An Inventory endpoint would be crucial including checking inventory, updating inventory etc.

Will this be done soon? It's like the basic feature needed to do proper shipping.

I agree with this idea. Having CRUD operations available through the API is critical since the User Experience through the website itself isn't that great.  For instance, when choosing a Location for an Alternate Location for a Product, we have to select a Location from a drop down.  Our warehouse has HUNDREDS of individual Locations, all barcoded.  I'd want my employees to scan a barcode to indicate the location.

Without improvements to either the Inventory features in the website or additions to the API, I can't use the ShipStation Inventory Management features.

We really need the API to support inventory.

Why hasn't this been implemented for years? Maybe they don't want to step on the toes of inventory software partners. This would make some inventory software integrations redundant.

  • January 30, 2023

Order splitting based on inventory and access to inventory data via API are 2 necessary components to a fairly basic workflow. We know neither are currently implemented in SS. Any insight as to where they exist on the road map?

  • December 1, 2023

I can't even get something as basic as an accurate inventory from the Products Tab. It is frustrating to not have an accurate count of available products within SS unless it is manually updated when stock arrives, etc. So, even something that basic would be a great start.

Has there been any change on this? Is there any way to access inventory levels through the API? Or is there a report that can be scheduled containing the inventory levels?

  • January 6, 2025

Any update here?

Would also love an update on this, it is mind boggling that this software does not support a way to programmatically export inventory.

Hello @charmingdonut!

Thank you for following up on this feature request! This feature is on our roadmap for 2025, but we’re still working on finalizing a specific release time frame. I've reached out to the development team to see if there's an updated timeframe, and I'll share any updates as soon as I have them!

I appreciate your persistence and patience!

Happy Shipping!
