I would like to have the option of having more columns on the shipments page so that I can customize what I see according to our companies needs. we use some of the custom fields as well as other important fields to mark our orders and it would be a lot easier if we would be able to see those fields on the main shipment page.

We plan to add an order tag when processing a shipment that indicates which return shipping method is ideal for that particular item. We are a rental business and sometimes we want items back ASAP (short supply, busy season, etc), and other times the items can come back Parcel Post and save us some money. However, I need to be able to SEE the tags in the Shipments view so that I know which shipping method to choose when I create the return label.

We use tags for both new orders and shipped orders, it would be great to be able to add the 'tags' column in the shipping window.

There is no way to tag orders in Orders screen and bring up Tagged orders in shipments screen.

This is needed to highlight certain shipments for attention and follow-up. For instance if a package is lost then how do you highlight that in the shipments screen? We want to tag it to signify that an insurance claim needs to be filed. It is surprising that this capability is not available.

If an order is tagged say for a gift message and we want to check that the order was fulfilled correctly then we need to be able to see the tag under the shipments page to be able to find the order quickly

Thanks for the updates! We're still looking for more traction on this idea, so if you haven't added your thoughts please do! @Michael, @Gene, @kristina - You're still able to open the Order Details window from the Shipments page to add Order Tags (located under "Order Summary") or Order Notes. However if you're searching through orders for this type of information, the Shipped tab on the Orders is the best option today.

It would be ideal to be able to go to the shipments tab and see the information that currently appears when you mouse over the icon next to the tracking number "Delivery Status Unknown", "Arrived at FedEx location", "On vehicle for delivery", "delivered", "Shipment information sent to FedEx." That way we can see a view of what's going on with our shipments and sort by shipment status. It would also be great to have a field for estimated delivery date so we can update our customers without being forced to visit different shipping carrier websites. Both of these fields should also be able to update our selling marketplace.

It would be very helpful to be able to view delivery status direct from Shipstation.

There is some crossover from the folders "Recent" & "In Transit". The "in transit" status is not comprehensive enough (it shows items that are not actually in transit - just label info sent to FedEx) & it does not pass through to our custom store integration. We ship mostly with FedEx so "In Transit" includes "Info sent to FedEx", "Picked Up" & "In Transit." "Recent" shows shipments that are "pending", "in transit" & "info sent to FedEx". It's difficult to understand if one of our shipments is "pending" or "info sent to FedEx" for too long (i.e. a problem with FedEx pickup or transit to station). It would be ideal to have statuses similar to the Aftership program. https://www.aftership.com/ The shipments screen is great that you can see all of your shipments, but the icons are not informative enough and the data is not easily exportable. Since you already have the integrations with FedEx, it would seem that shipment status & expected delivery date would be logical next steps to keep everything in one place.

Hey @Robert, thanks for the update! The Recent status shows all of your shipments in the past week, so there are overlapping statuses here; it's a mixed bag overview. There isn’t a good way to see if your shipments have been in one status “too long” today, but I can see how it’s helpful. This next question is for you as much as anyone else who's interested in this idea: From your experience, how often have you found these “stuck” shipments, and what actions do you take after learning a shipment will be late or has been derailed?

  • March 14, 2016
Yes, we find that shipments are stuck more often than you would think. Typically it has something to do with our warehouse. I would say probably 2-4% aren't scanned into our carrier when picked up, so they will show "pending" or "info sent to FedEx" rather than in transit. In that situation, we typically check with our warehouse to make sure that everything has shipped. We sometimes find that we have issues with the warehouse not getting packages on the truck / not getting labels on packages. It would be a huge help to monitor the warehouse & FedEx / other carriers.

We often need to search through our shipment data, and it would be vastly helpful if we could search by certain things: SKU, Item Name, Order Tags, etc. All the advanced search options that are available under Orders are great, we'd just like the same options under Shipments. Especially Tags, and SKUs.

I would also love to have this. One instance where this is necessary is I created an API for shipping orders automatically and tagging them as such and would love to be able to the shipments tab to actually print these shipments!

ADD STATUS TO SHIPMENTS PAGE - the three status symbols on the Tracking number field do not provide enough information. A separate STATUS column is needed that will show what the latest information is it can be easily seen if there is an issue with a package. Specifically a package can have an in process symbol when in fact it is only tracking number assigned and received by shipper but it was never actually picked up. Or maybe a simpler way would be to add a symbol showing that or assign that status to the ? symbol and only use the flying symbol when the package has in fact been picked up.

We use Tags for all sorts of things, and they allow us quick, easy, and *very* specific sorting of orders. Would very much like to have that that sorting ability in the Shipments and Fulfillment sections

I use tags to mark a backordered item that needs to be shipped separately when the item is back in stock. I need to find the tag in shipments to get the item to the right person. It seems like I used to be able to find tags there before and now I can't. And I can't add tags in the colums in the shipments window either.

Would make my job a lot easier if this was available. We pull batches by product type and would be great to see at a quick glance the tags related to the batch if so desired.

I would like to ditto the comments on this thread. This would make follow up so much more efficient. How much traction would you need to get something implemented? Would it be possible to have a vote on all the ideas that are pending so we can help prioritize them for ShipStation?

This would allow us to tag orders in shipment page to trigger API's relating to shipped orders

There are international shipments where the USPS Status is not accurate. Use of a TAG in Shipments would allow us to mark those shipments as we get information from the Clients. BIG workflow boost!

Due to lack of Signature Required ability due to Covid-19, our temperature sensitive orders are shipped with "Card for Pick-up". What we have discovered is that a significant portion of these shipments are reporting that they never received a card for pick-up. We have adopted the practice of going through the shipments, tracking them, and contacting customers whose status has updated to "notice left", "shipment ready for pick-up", to notify them that there should have been a card delivered and that their package is now ready for pick-up. This has greatly improved a bad situation, but because we can't flag/mark shipments in Shipments, we can't easily keep track of who we have already contacted, who we haven't already contacted, and this leads to missed opportunity and excessive labour. I recommend, under column "Notifications", beside "Marketplace Notification", "Shipment Email", and "Delivery Email" icons, you add a "Flag" icon which can be toggled on or off by the user. Afterwards, the ability to sort shipments by "Flag Status" would be exceptional. Thank you for the consideration. Adam

The alias field under products should be a column to be able to display on the Awaiting shipment page so we can truly sort ALL items together across ALL Marketplaces so ALL like labels can be printed together at 1 time across ALL Marketplaces. This also helps with doing a hard inventory on unshipped orders that have been printed but not shipped yet as well as Shipments UNSHIPPED in which the order was pushed into an accounting system. So Many benefits from having that 1 column displayed and available with expots

This is needed to highlight certain shipments for attention and follow-up. For instance if a package is lost we could highlight on the shipments. Also, USPS is notoriously inaccurate. We find parcels "in transit" by USPS (tracking available within Shipstation) but we reach out to our clients and find the parcel HAS arrived. We could then tag that the item was received and sort our in transit orders accordingly.

I’d like a column on the "Shipments Screen" that shows the last tracking note from the carrier. Due to continued shipping delays, I spend a lot of time checking the last status for Customers when shipping SLAs are not being met. The overhead of checking each open tracking number is a drain on my time.

Only seeing Product Sku in the Orders tab. Trying to figure out how much each item is costing to ship - NEED PRODUCT SKU IN THE SHIPMENTS TAB. Thank you!
