A unique UPC or QR code can be printed on each shipping label. The contents of each shipment will contain a UPC / barcode. The items of each shipment, then the UPC code on the shipping label will need be scanned. Once scanned, the scanner will either give a verification that the items are correct, or an error message if the items are incorrect (wrong item, wrong quantity, or both). If the items are incorrect, the scanner will not be able to move onto the next order until the incorrect order is fixed. A column inside of ship station should also show if the items of the shipment have been scan and verified to contain the correct quantity and product.

The number one problem we have is either the wrong item, quantity or missed items during the pick process. Accounts for too many errors and associated cost. Have looked at other offering the feature, but do not want to go away from ShipStation. Those that integrate with ShipStation are unreasonably high price for us in that we dont need all the other features they offer.

This feature would be a huge benefit to our operation - it's incredibly difficult to scale without logically integrated UPC scanning.

We currently use groovepacker for this as well. However would LOVE shipstation to have this ability to replace groovepacker. This could be a nice upgraded plan or add-on we would even be willing to pay for. This feature would make it easier on staff not having to login to two separate platforms and also haveing to learn and navigate through both platforms. It would also as the other poster suggested virtually eliminate fulfilment errors.

We would love to see this feature developed. As many already pointed out it would virtually eliminate fulfilment errors. as well as help make it easier on staff who currently have to login to 2 separate platforms to do what it seems logical that a shipping system should be able to do. Groovepacker (and many others) are able to do this function so why can't shipstation get competitive in the marketplace and bring this feature to there platform in order to stand out the go to product form all a companies shipping order processing needs.

Any updates on this?

  • February 5, 2018
6 years since submitted and we still can't get this integrated. If you have the UPC in the system or unique code that the person wants to reference scanning, then where is the issue on why we can't verify against an order when this procedure is performed?

  • February 16, 2018
It could be as easy as this... 1) Scan the barcode on the packing slip 2) Scan the product barcode ShipStation then compare the product barcode to the barcodes on the order adds a green check mark next to the product once it's scanned. If there are more items then the picker keeps scanning other items until the entire order has green check marks...voila. This would be an amazing addition to ShipStation and would save tens of thousands of dollars per year worth of mispicks.

Easily the #1 feature that is needed in SS. Please do this!

Groovepacker no longer works reliably with ShipStation. SKUVault is insanely priced. This is something that we really need. It would be nice to hear from Shipstation on this. It seems like such a simple addition. you already have the ability to read the scanner. We can upload all of our SKU's and barcodes. We just need you to verify that we have the correct item going in the package. I would gladly pay more for this ability.

And do this with the shipstation mobile app. Mobile app uses camera on smartphone to scan the barcodes on the items as they are packed....and deprecates inventory account in shipstation at the same time. Not hard, all smartphones have cameras and can scan upc barcodes.

We are going to leave Shipstation in 2018 if this is not implemented. As we are finding SS becoming irrelevant for required necessary elements. Its beyond crazy that we have the capability to do this and there is no ETA for implementation. What is going on at SS? The 3rd party APP that integrates is extortion at $50 per user.

Please implement this feature. It would really help our fulfillment.

We'll join the chorus of those needing this feature. It seems like such an easy thing for you to implement and would greatly enhance the usability (value) of your software. Many of us face the issue of needing a way at picking/packing to verify that the correct items are being shipped.

This topic has more votes that any other idea. I guess "voting" for an idea really means nothing. You haven't even responded to the request since 6/13/2017. This is very disappointing from a software company that many of us rely on. I'm sure many of us would be willing to pay extra for this capability. I know I would. Please update us! Jeff

I love ShipStation but the biggest issue we run into using this software is how to handle multiple quantity orders. Scan to Verify would solve this hurdle in our fulfillment process. Currently, we print our picklist by category. We look for particular items and then bring them back to the shipping area. if an order has 5 items but we only found 4 then the items are placed on the partial shelf, we leave internal notes as to which products we did find, and the missing product is searched for again. If the item is not found by the time we print again all 5 items print out again on the picklist. Then we end up double pulling the first 4 items again. With scan to verify an awesome feature would be once an item is "scanned" for that order it will grey out and not show up on the picklist anymore. That way we would know which items we currently have found. Those items will not show up on the picklist anymore and we can just focus on the missing item. Also, we would never send out an incorrect item or quantity again. This has to be the next released feature by ShipStation. It just makes so much sense.

Please add this it would be great feature

It's been 6 years since this topic opened. Could you please tell us if you ever wish to fulfil this request or simply want people to use groovepacker which is extremely high with a setup fee of $500 and $100 monthly and $50 every user added. Please clarify this it's not a good reputation that this topic has been open for 6 years and no proper reply yet.

Hi everyone. Efficiently picking and packing your orders is still something we'd like to help with. For now, we're keeping this under review to allow all users to chime in until we've come up with designs or prototypes for you all to see. Thanks for your keeping an eye here for updates.

We desperately need this functionality. We are looking at other shipping solutions as a result. If you had this, it would fix the only thing that's holding this software back. It's essential in most businesses to have this functionality.

This is a very big feature and would definitely help us minimize shipping errors and help us to provide a better customer experience. Ideally it would be possible to have the UPC listed out on the packing slip by each item, and in order to release an order for shipment, the person packing the order would have to scan the UPC on the packing slip, and then scan it again on the product, and if it matches it would give it a green light. If the second scan doesn't match, there would be an error that identifies a mis-match. In the event of a mis-match, you can try again, or override in the event a UPC changed, or the wrong UPC was put into the system initially. It would also be necessary to indicate when a product will not have a UPC (or make use of a placeholder UPC that can be scanned to OK the order) if an item does not have a UPC assigned to it. This feature should also take EAN and GTIN into account.

This is a much needed function especially filling orders accurately. We already use barcodes to pull up orders, add barcodes to fill orders would be a time saver and insure orders are filled accurately. PLEASE add the ability to fill orders with barcode scans.

We need this feature badly! Please add

This is a very needed function please implement it

This functionality should be #1 on the development list. It's the most critical feature missing from ShipStation.
