California (CA) addresses pasted into the "Paste US Address" window in the Rates tool get converted to Canada (CA); the tool automatically drops the California zip code and changes the intended country (US) to Canada (CA).
I had a brief conversation/chat with a ShipStation support person and was told that I should enter "California" and not use the 2-digit "CA" state code when entering the address. Was also told by ShipStation support that since California (state) and Canada (country) share the same abbreviation, it "confuses the system" and that it "is not a bug." More specifically, I was advised that, "This is not classified as a bug, as it reflects the intended functionality of the system." A system that intends to convert US addresses to non-US addresses seems like a bug to me. lol
Having to manually enter the full name of the state of California sort of defeats the purpose of using the "Paste US Address" window feature. California, also then, is the only state that requires the full state name to be manually entered instead of using the 2-digit state code. All other state addresses can be copied and pasted as is and the tool will decipher them correctly.
Shouldn't the "Paste US Address" window logic first presume that the address being pasted is a US address? Instead of the looking at the postal code pasted, which would confirm the country and state (in this case, California), the tool logic seems focus first on the "CA" and conclude "Canada", ... sort of the wrong order of operations.
Our company ships to California quite often, so this bug fix would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
