I’m not sure if other Etsy sellers in Canada or other countries are experiencing this issue. Every time we ship with Shipstation we are losing money. The fee that Etsy is taking from the customer is lower then what Shipstation’s UPS is charging.
for example
on Etsy a client was charged $ 16.87 in shipping and Shipstation ups charged 18.91 leaving a small business out -2.04.
plus Etsy takes a sales tax from the state the item is purchased from but Shipstation is showing it as a duty which isn’t right because it looks like Etsy collected more money then it did for the shipping fees.
There use to be a way to offset this on Etsy by adding a handling fee, but has of March 17 without any communication this feature was taken away.
As partners Etsy and Shipstation , these two companies need to work together so small businesses aren’t losing money or having to increase product prices.

Hello @Jason9!
Thank you for your post in the community! I can see why this would be concerning to you. At this time, ShipStation does not provide checkout rates for Etsy marketplaces. This means the shipping rates your customers see at checkout are generated directly by Etsy. For a list of marketplaces where checkout rates are currently supported, review our Checkout Rates help article.
Since this is outside of ShipStation’s control, we recommend contacting Etsy support for assistance in ensuring accurate rate calculations. It may also help to double-check that your Ship From address, product weight, and dimensions are up-to-date in your Etsy settings.
We truly apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and understand how important this is for your business. If you have any other questions or need further support, you can reach out here or to support@shipstation.com.
Happy Shipping!
