Hello ShipStation Team,
Iโd like to suggest a feature improvement regarding how order totals are calculated when orders are imported from marketplaces. Currently, when an order is pulled into ShipStation, the Total Order Value is used as the "Order Total." However, this value includes the full price before any deductions for discounts or taxes.
ISSUE:
The Total Order Value reflects the subtotal before applying any discounts, promotions, or tax deductions.
The actual Total Paid (which is what the customer has actually paid after discounts and taxes) is not being used as the final "Order Total" in ShipStation.
Automation rules are applied incorrectly because they are based on the incorrect total (pre-discount/pre-tax), leading to potential misclassification of orders, incorrect shipping methods, or inaccurate tagging.
This leads to discrepancies when reconciling order values, tracking revenue, and generating reports, as the order appears to have a higher value than what was actually paid.
PROPOSED SOLUTION:
Instead of using the Total Order Value, ShipStation should use the Total Paid as the final order total when orders are imported.
This ensures that automation rules apply correctly and that reports accurately reflect revenue based on actual payments received.
This small change would greatly improve accuracy for accounting, reporting, and order management. Iโd love to hear feedback from the ShipStation team and the community
