When I enter an order manually, I must enter the product cost. For my distributors, I bill after shipment. I have occasionally made a mistake in entering the cost because of a typo or a changed cost. Once the order is shipped, there is no way to change the product cost if it is in error. I use the order export feature to report daily shipments and spend and each week to generate an invoice for the distributor. When the product cost is entered incorrectly, I have to correct the daily .csv export file and then remember to correct it the weekly invoice .csv file again. I have to also correct my end of month reports. In other words, the error propagates and must be corrected in downline processes multiple times.
That would not be the case if I had the opportunity to edit the product cost after shipment. I would be ok with a secret password 10 levels deep if I could correct this and not be forced to track it from now on. I understand that the product cost can be printed on the packing slip. Allowing it to be changed could create a situation where the printed document, the packing list, does not agree with the database. Easy. Add a checkbox to disallow editing.
ShipStation is wonderful in it's adaptability. I would request that you make it a little more wonderful in this case.
Thanks,
