Error in bundle on-hand calculation when child items at zero

LegionTerrain

We're experiencing an error with Bundles and Inventory sync and have reached out to support some time ago. I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same issue or if this is somehow something we've caused.  In short, a bundle which has multiple children always calculates the lowest positive integer above zero.

Example - Lets say a bundle SKU is has 3 children with 1, 2, and 3 available, respectively. Bundles correctly calculate that the bundle only has 1 unit available.

However, if the same bundle SKU had 3 children with 0, 5 , and 4 available, the available count for the bundled SKU is miscalculating to 4, the next highest integer above 4.

For us, this is causing overselling of bundles (our best sellers) when child items are out of stock.

Hello @LegionTerrain!

Thank you so much for reaching out about this! I’ve followed up with our development team for any updates. I also noticed that your support ticket #8831422 is currently on hold while our support team collaborates with them. They’ll be sure to share any new information as soon as it becomes available.

I completely understand how frustrating this can be—especially with the busy season approaching. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this issue.

Have a wonderful day!

Hey Kara - this has been hitting us very hard. We continue to see sales occurring when the bundle miscalculates 0 quantities as the next lowest number.  Here's what I believe is happening.

  1. When we list a bundle on our sales channels, it has set components.
  2. We have a shipping goal of 72 hours for our hand-painted products.
  3. THEORY: When Shipstation's Inventory system sees that an item is at 0 inventory
    1. The item disappears from the inventory view screen (making it hard to add items back for our inventory team)
    2. The out-of-stock item may also not be available for bundles anymore
    3. The bundle calculator, not receiving the zero stock items, miscalculates using the lowest quantity
  4. The inventory sync process now updates all sales channels with a new false bundle inventory
  5. Customers order the bundles which have missing parts
  6. Our manufacturing chain gets disrupted because we have to stop to produce one item.
  7. Our finishing process gets disrupted because we have to rush items to the right finishing team
  8. Our shipping process gets disrupted because we have orders which stay on hold for days
  9. Our sales channels which have shipping agreements (like Amazon) penalize us and mark us as delinquent in shipping, which could result in closure of our storefront
  10. When the single item is put back in stock and is shipped the item quantity returns to zero and the process begins again.

This is a defect. A bundle's makeup, once set is not negotiable. Shipstation's newest updates to bundles and inventory sync are incompatible with each other. PLEASE escalate this if possible as we are trying to prepare for Black Friday.
