Why do Alias SKUs take precedence over Product SKUs in the Orders view?

I've been on to support but has proven unfruitful.

Long story short I've inherited a business that likes to get creative with SKUs on marketplaces such as Amazon and eBay so I'm having to make use of Product SKU Aliases for it all to work. It works great!

Trouble is, within the Orders view dashboard you can't display the actual Product SKU. It displays the alias and that is the only SKU option to select when adding additional columns.

This seems like a monumental oversight considering a system has been built to utilise SKU aliases.

I know I can click two levels deep to find the actual SKU but that's of no use. I need to see the actual (internal) product SKU within the order table, at a glance, as do all the staff.

I've been through everything and I'm convinced I'm not missing anything as the same issue rears it's head when attempting to put the internal product SKU on the shipping label too — not crucial but would save printing pick lists in most cases.

Thanks in advance to all!

Hello @GTUK-Leon!

Thank you for posting in the community! The information you’ve received is correct—currently, the Alias SKU is displayed in the order view. If you’re looking to have Master Sku appear there, that would require a new feature. We’ve shared your request with our development team for review. While we don’t currently have the option to adjust this in the order details and grid view in ShipStation, it can be adjusted on your pack slip by changing the Field Replacements when making custom edits. Additionally, if you’d like to change the behavior for pick lists, select Product SKU in Document Options.

If you need any further assistance on this please feel free to reach out to support@shipstation.com.

Happy Shipping!
