Package Type Default - Multiple Carriers

Wondering if anyone has tried to or found a way to set an automation of package type, without forcing a service type.  We offer 2 different carrier services that we allow our customers to choose from, but the packaging type for some of our items are the exact same and I would like them to automatically set the packaging at the shipping stage.

Would love to have package type default to "Package" for all service types, just for the purposes of price comparison/not having to click that since the majority of our packages are just regular packages.
