As the title, the prices given for shipments via my UPS account are not the same as the prices I'm being invoiced for. I'm being charged residential and additional handling surge charges that I'm unaware of when given the pricing by ShipStation at the time of label creation. Given that I ship on behalf of artists and charge them for the actual shipping I've paid this means I'm underbilling and paying these surcharges myself.

Hello @UniquelyGeekly!
We refer to this as an estimated rate, but it's not really ShipStation that's doing the estimating. To get rates into our system, ShipStation makes a call to the carrier's API which includes all the relevant shipping information (addresses, weight, dimensions, service, any special services, etc.) and the carrier returns an estimated rate to us which we display on our interface. In other words, ShipStation is a vessel that stores shipment information and gets rates. We push that information to the carrier and then display whatever the carrier returns to us in their reply.
There are several reasons why you will receive an adjustment. I have attached the ShipStation Carrier Adjustments help center article to help you avoid adjustments. I hope that you find this article helpful!
Happy Shipping!

this is concerning and does not bode well with me; what is stopping them from price gouging

We are also running into this same issue. We were charged an additional $21! for one shipment. It is getting ridiculous and the above response from ShipStation support is not helpful. I am tempted to switch back to my UPS account instead of UPS by shipstation. I had less issues and I was able to use my customer's UPS account numbers.
