Global Post Issues - Buyer Beware!

Due to the Canada Post strike, we shipped a package using Global Post Economy, as Shopify listed it as an alternative to DHL/Canada Post. We suspected that Global Post used Canada Post for the last mile, but we verified with ShipStation and they said it was ok. In a couple of days there was something posted on ShipStation, that Global Post was not ok to use, but it was too late as the package was already shipped.

The package shipped on December 2.

We didn't see any tracking movement, even after the Canada Post strike ended on December 19, but on January 7, the Global Post website showed the package had cleared Customs. It has not moved since then and tracking has not been updated.

We filed a claim on Global Post on December 28th and received an AI generated form response, saying the package was not eligible for a claim due to the Canada Post strike and we could not file a claim until 30 days after the package was due to be delivered. We filed another claim on that schedule and were again told the same thing. We just spoke with a service representative at Global Post were told the package was not eligible for a claim as it was Global Post Economy.  Apparently, there is no tracking with Global Post Economy and insurance is not provided, so if the package goes missing you are SOL. Global Post also will not allow you to file a claim on any package that is ninety days old.

We contacted ShipStation and were told that all Global Post claims have to go through Global Post and there is nothing they can do, even though they are the ones who provided incorrect info on their website, that Global Post was ok to use due to the Canada Post strike.

We will never use Global Post again for anything, and this whole experience is making me rethink our relationship with ShipStation. We have been a client of theirs for over 10 years now, and I am dismayed to see how much their customer service has deteriorated, and the poor shipping carriers they are promoting. Just check out the reviews of Global Post online. You will see a tale of a company, that obviously cares nothing about its reputation, or customer service.
