We ran into this recently - scammers are stealing credit cards from mailboxes. When they use them, they're only a few cities away. When they check out, they put their info in the checkout fields EXCEPT the zip code. They do this to fool the credit card processor's zip check, but they also fool shipstation because when it corrects the address, it favors the city name and changes the zipcode according to the city.
So in the end, the scammer gets the goods. There has to be a solution to this. We don't use autocorrect, we just tell the customer that what they put in is where the package is going. We do have visibility into whether or not the address is correct, but it's only a yes or no, not detailed at all. Just want to warn yall before you get robbed of your product, and maybe see if someone can think of a solution besides turning autocorrect off.
