We have a few websites that sell products to wholesalers. For example we will sell a case of a single SKU. Each case has 12 units. It would be nice if SS could allow us to setup virtual bundles that deducted multiple units of a single SKU.
My needs echo Boruch's. We sell widgetA and WidgetB separately on eBay and fulfill them through FBA. Since the widgets are similar we also bundle them and sell them at a discount if you buy them bundled, it is assigned a sku of widgetbundle1. When we get orders for the bundle, they must be entered into FBA manually since the bundle is not recognized as a valid sku. If Shipstation could split widgetbundle1 into the two sku's that make it up before submitting it to FBA, this would be ideal.
Our needs are similar to Nathan French. We sell skateboard components and custom assemblies of those components into complete skateboards. Ex: a particular wheel can be purchased on its own, or as part of a complete skateboard.
Current Solution:
Our shopping cart breaks out the kit into multiple line items.
1 SKU / line item for the kit + 1 SKU / line item for each component of the kit
All line items are reported to ShipStation, so the warehouse staff puts together the correct assembly.
Most Frustrating Part:
ShipStation re-orders all of the line items on the Packing Slip, making it impossible to list kit components together with each other. This causes a big problem when (for example) a customer orders 2 custom skateboards, each with different components. The resulting Packing Slip is a jumbled mess of items.
A solid solution to this problem would enable the Packing Slips to print kit components together on the page.
This would be a fantastic feature for the products we mainly sell. It would reduce picking errors as well.
For us we have individual SKUs we sell but use the same inventory to build bundles which are very popular. We create a new SKU for each bundle. If we could have an option to create line-item detail which each product SKU (perhaps a sort of sub-SKU) incorporated into the master SKU to detail which SKUs are part of the bundle, it would allow us to check off all parts are being included in the order. Perhaps an optional check box to indicate the item was picked and packed may be beneficial as well.
Would it be feasible to create an automation rule where an order is imported with the bundle/kit SKU as the criteria, leading to a string of actions that include adding the bundle SKUs as individual line items and/or removing the original single bundle SKU?
we want to list multi packs online without having the burden of creating and stocking them when we have single units already in stock. We'd like to map that 1 sale of a multi-pack is equivalent to X number of single units
Add ability to build kits. It would be great if you could import a sku from a market place. Then in Shipstation that SKU can be pointed to multiple Sku's or Multiple Quantities. That way the correct SKU's & Quantities will show up on the Packing list instead of a Fictitious sku made up in a Market place as a Kit SKU. For Example on Amazon a SKU of AMHOOK, will need qty 2 of SKU 123456, qty 2 SKU 45687 and 1 of SKU 585212. If those numbers and correct qty could come up, We could pull correct items and not have to write it down by hand on packing list or pick list. So we can be sure to pick the correct items. As well multi pack SKU's, for example if we have a SKU 1224254x5. The we can point that SKU to a QTY of 5 1224254 on Packing list or pick list.
There are many sellers that offer kits or bundles, which are compromised of a number of individual SKUs. It would be very helpful if ShipStation could recognize such a kit on import, then break it down to its individual components so that the warehouse knows exactly what to pack.

Our kit contents are all listed in the description. Looks like we are trying to accomplish the same thing in a different way.
Selling Bundles or kits on e-bay and Amazon is a very common practice among sellers.
A bundle or kit should be a type of product that allows multiple standalone or variant products to be added to constitute a single SKU.
Printing Picking and Packing List:
There should be an option to select how this bundle should be printed in picking or Packing list.
Option 1: Print the SKU and description of the bundle including a list of SKUâs/Descriptions of its components.
Option2: Pint a list of components only (SKUâs and descriptions) as if they were standalone or variant products
Bundle Price and individual component prices:
For those who integrate Shipstation with an accounting software like QuickBooks, It is essential that the price of the bundle sold on a marketplace like Amazon and eBay matches with the sum of the individual products included in the bundle that will be transferred to the accounting software. Most of the times, the price of the bundle is lower than the sum of its components if purchased separately. The problem is that marketplaces like Amazon and e-bay will not send individual item information, so Shipstation needs to have individual prices to transfer this information to accounting software.
If we assign individual prices to each standalone o variant product, remember that the price of the bundle might be lower (or higher) than the sum of its components so,
For example:
Price of Bundle A = $100
Regular price of Product B = $30
Regular Price of Product C= $55
Bundle A consist of (2) Product B + (1) Product C
If we calculate the price of the bundle based on the price of its individual components, the price of the bundle will be: 2 X $30 + 1 X $55 = $115
So the price of the bundle will be incorrect. For that reason there should be a way to overwrite the price of each individual item. Ideally the system should allow us to choose form different options:
a) Estipulate a new overwrite price for each product on the bundle.
Ie: When creating the bundle, next to the each SKU, besides quantity we must be able to determine individual prices for each SKU in the bundle as follows:
Price for Product B in this bundle = $25 (Original price $30)
Price for Product C in this bundle = $ 50 (Original Price $55)
Order to be transferred to accounting software:
(2) Product B @ $25 each = $50
(1) Product B @ $50 each= $ 50
Total Order = $100
b) Automatically calculate a discount based on the price of the Bundle transferred form the marketplace and applying a calculated discount to the price stored in Shipstation for each individual product on the bundle.
For example :
Price of Bundle A sent from marketplace= $100
Price of Individual Items calculated with the information stored on Sipstation for each SKU = $115
Regular price of Product B = $30 stored on Shipstation for standalone product
Regular Price of Product C= $55 stored on Shipstation for standalone product
Difference = $15 which is a 13.043%
Information to be transferred to accounting software:
(2) Product B @ $30/each - 13.043% = each@ $26.087 x 2 = $ 52.174
(1) product B @ $55/each - 13.043% = $ 47.826
Total Order = $100
Another benefit for us would be when shipping a kit internationally. Custom Forms ask for the quantity being shipped and unit value. This means we need to manually adjust each international order that includes a kit, to break it down to it's components and individual values. If SS broke down the kit upon import, this should clear up the problem for us.
