Add Zonos API Support for Canada Post Carrier Accounts so we can resume US labels thru Shipstation

lunacoffee

Canada post has a special partnership they launched with Zonos for tariff/duty collection in order to offer a DDP service. We have an account with Zonos through* Canada Post, and the Declaration ID that Zonos returns to canada post is all done in the Snap Ship program with Canada Post. Currently, Shipstation is not using this part of Canada Post's API.

My question, is this: Is it on the road map for Shipstation to support this new API feature with Canada Post for US shipments?

*Please note this is different than us having a full fledged zonos account - this is something that was introduced in response to the de minimis removal in the US on August 29th 2025

We currently are unable to use Shipstation for any shipment to the US with Canada Post, instead having to use Canada Post directly. They do have a functioning API to talk to Zonos and generate the declaration ID. We'd like to be able to complete this process in Shipstation.

THIS! downgrading my account and possibly cancelling as it's completely useless to me right now.

Yes please need postcanada zonos

What is going on with this? Is there seriously no way for Canadians to ship to the US with shipstation right now? Please respond asap. This is urgent

no there is currently no way to use shipstation for pre paying duties via zonos and canada post. only way to ship to USA currently is through canada posts website via snap ship. You can either prepay the duties and get the 13 digit code through the Zonos App, or have the border bill you through zonos if you integrate it into canada post snap ship.

everything needs to be done manually for now since it's all so new... a huge nightmare especially if you need to do 100's of labels like me right now, lol.

Absolutely insane...Thanks for responding.

What about with DHL/ UPS? Can shipstation do any of them right now? Or do I have to use their respective websites for each damn shipment?

This isn't fun anymore. Haha

UPS require a software to be downloaded ``Worldship`'. This software needs some programming that can only be done by a UPS tech. To this day, we are still waiting for a UPS tech to contact us๐Ÿ™„

I'm staring down the barrel of needing to do nearly 200 orders to the US through snap ship right now (and FDA since it's coffee). I come from strong stock but, man, this is the kind of thing that would be nightmare fuel for anyone.

I'm going to be looking at Click Ship since they are more likely to make this a priority being a canadian alternative to Shipstation. I'm retiscent to change our systems that have been in place since 2017, but if this isn't implemented then our hand is forced.

Yeah pretty hard to justify paying for a damn shipping platform that is the digital equivalent of a paper weight at the moment, and the lack of urgent updates/ info is staggeringly disappointing.

That is horrible, sorry to hear you are going through that. Please keep up posted if you find an elegant solution to this hellscape. I too did not get into online sales to become a shipping expert/ customs officer.

Hello,

We ship Food to USA. Never used Shipstation as there's no way to attach a FDA Prior notice (PN) to a tracking.

We use Shopify integration PH Ship Rate & Track for FedEx, because we can attach a PN.

Best of luck

We got that as an answer form Zonos Support this morning:

Hello,

Unfortunately, Canada Post is still working on building out the ability to print ShipStation labels through this integration, so it is not currently possible. The documentation available for Zonos and ShipStation applies to our more robust platform integrations. I recommend keeping an eye on announcements as Canada Post continues work on this in the coming weeks.

Great. that is super fun news. Doesn't sound terribly urgent.

Just speculating here, but it sounds like the Zonos work for their "Dashboard Lite" may be done at this point. Since Canada Post generates the MID and transmits that to Zonos when/after the label is created (at least that's what I've gathered from all the available information) we're waiting for Canada Post to upgrade their API (and ShipStation to change their API call) so that all the necessary information can get back to ShipStation.

Hopefully ShipStation is working with Canada Post to get this working and tested. Some support articles or updates would be nice too.

Yes I expected we would be getting a few reassuring newsletters/ etc, as opposed to absolute radio silence. Pretty disappointing response thus far.

Hello @lunacoffee

Thank you so much for sharing this feedback, and a big thanks to everyone who added their input. Iโ€™ve contacted our developers to check for any updates and will share the latest information with you as soon as itโ€™s available. I truly appreciate your patience and persistence as we work together!

Happy Shipping!

Any updates???? We all have 100's of orders to ship...

Would love to see any updates at all from ShipStation here, even if they can just acknowledge the issue and say that they're working on this with Canada Post? As a developer I understand things like this take time, but this renders ShipStation next to useless for me and many other Canadian business owners.

I'm highly considering cancelling unless they are able to communicate a path forwards. Their homepage still advertising international shipments using Canada Post front and center is kinda insane.

Just found this on my Zonos dashboard for anyone following:

Wow that is literally a red alert flood of information compared to what Shipstation has given us.

If I didn't check the news I would have no idea anything is even going on when using Shipstation. It would still let me ship as normal and just have my packages refused/ discarded at the border. Not even a header/ warning pop-up...the mind boggles.

I did see an update from SS when i logged in that they are working with canada post to get this added. but i didn't take a screenshot of it

there is an area in shipstation, in the canada post carrier settings to add the zonos account key.. but its still giving errors.

fingers crossed they are working on it. labels are still not working

thank you for that!!! i was able to add my acct key without the "credential_live_" part and it saved but i'm not even sure how to know if it's billing you or what.. are you getting errors with the label printing too? i can still print labels fine, they never stopped working for me (which is scary considering if you were out of the loop you'd just keep sending them lol)

i will try uploading without the credential live and report back

tried it, did not work. cannot make label. blaaaah.

I hate using canada post shipping manager

I agree - not a fan of the Canada Post option but at least it would work unlike SS which I am paying for. The lack of information from SS and Canada Post for small business owners has been startling.

Has anyone had any success adding this? I was told by a shipstation agent that they had someone reach out to Zonos customer support and then were able to add it.

Sooo...any news on this? Has anyone successfully added Zonos to their Shipstation account and shipped a packed to the US yet? This is getting ridiculous.

asaunders

Anyone?

hfxpins

Bumping this. i was able to add it without the credential live part of the account key but too scared to ship until i have some sort of confirmation it works...

The lack of info/ updates on this is just insane. Are we expected to just trial and error this system?

Hello @asaunders!

Thank you for your post in the community, and I apologize for any frustration this issue has caused. Weโ€™re aware of the problems youโ€™ve described, and I want to assure you that our development team is actively working on a solution. We truly appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this, and weโ€™ll share updates as soon as theyโ€™re available.

Happy Shipping!

We are paying for a service that we can't use.. will this be resolved soon?

it's been 3 weeks now at this point and we've gotten no official updates from anyone? none of us are able to ship bulk right now

any updates? we can add our zonos keys but are we just expected to try to ship and see what happens? this is absurd

FYI - despite no official announcement - 25-Sept Shipstation Canada Post carrier settings validated the full Zonos integration key.  We were able to save the key and test print labels.

asaunders

Interesting. Were you successfully charged duty fees to your zonos account? Did you have to manually find the HS code?

jond

We don't have an e-com store integration with Zonos.  We ship B2B with Shipstation, so Zonos account shipment sync is delayed and fairly limited, we setup HTS codes for our products in Shipstation.  We're testing cautiously, but how this has gone so far - who knows.

asaunders

I was just messing around with it and couldn't get it to show any sort of duty/ zonos fees, when the order should have them...I can't trust this thing.
