Automation Rules (Action Type)

We have current rules where certain customers are applied there shipping account and carrier.  We also specify the "package" type in the same rule.  (reason for mentioning below)

We now want to create a new rule that will pull from Custom 3 field to specify the box type/dimensions, for the most part this will work, but may now get over written by the new rules we want to implement for dimensions. (this could be ok if it does not change there carrier and #)

Similar to the "Set Package Dimensions" Action Type where we type in the Dimensions, can we have a "Package" Action Type where we select the predefined package types we already have in ShipStation?

"Set Package Dimensions" Action Type - populates the dimensions but leave Package field as "Package" (kind of leaves us empty not knowing the type)

"Package" Action Type - would populate the Package field with the correct box type and also populate the dimensions.  (giving u that visual confirmation)

This would give us a visual confirmation that we have the correct box and trust the dimensions as they are tied to the package type already stred in ShipStation sizes

I know this is a feature request, but just in case this would be helpful to you (or anyone else finding this post in the future):

You can create and then check for an intermediary tag that's only purpose is specifying whether or not the 'certain customers' rule was applied, and then exclude it from the 'Custom Field 3' rule and/or handle those cases differently.  Note that when using tags in decisions, excluded tags can be listed in one criteria but if you want 3 tags to be on the order then you must specify those on individual lines as the criteria is a logical 'OR'

You can kind of accomplish this currently by creating a tag for each package type, applying it when you set the package dimensions, and then filtering and applying the shipping presets in bulk. Note that for the shipping presets, if you end up using shipping strategies, you can apply the 'Package' package type without altering the dimensions by using a preset that does not include dimensions, detailed here .
