Bundles should offer a "pre-commit" option which reduces child products available counts

We're new to bundles and inventory sync. These features are crucial in our store, but we sometimes encounter an issue because the bundler calculates inventory to include all available single products. We don't maintain huge inventory levels, so that sometimes leads to an issue where someone buys a bundle (consuming the last available child SKU's for one or more child items). On the same order, they also include all available child items, essentially "double-dipping" into our inventory.

We'd prefer to see a feature that preallocates child-item available inventory to X number of bundles, for example 1 or 2, if there is enough inventory available. In this way, a shopper would only see the bundle SKU in stock, not the child SKUs.

  • So a bundle made of products 1xA, 2xB, 1xC
  • where on hand = 4xA,4xB,10xC
  • would sync available quantities to our stores as follows:
    • Bundle: 2x (assuming precommit level set to 1)
    • A : 3 (note that 1 is already committed)
    • B: 2 (note that 2 are already committed)
    • C: 9 (note that 1 is already committed)
