Multiple Harmonization codes for a single product

Has anyone found a way to apply multiple harmonization codes to a single product automatically? US customs states

"You must classify each item in the set individually for customs clearance, as the goods do not form a single functional unit or "composite good". U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) rulings have found that items sold together as "gift sets" that do not relate to a single need or activity must be classified separately."

I need a way to have a single gift box product trigger 15 HS codes without having to manually edit every single order.

Hello @Loerts!

Regarding your question about applying multiple Harmonized System (HS) codes to a single product, I have reached out to our team for guidance. While ShipStation doesnโ€™t currently allow multiple HS codes on a single SKU, the development team recommends using the Bundles and Kits feature as a great workaround.

Hereโ€™s how you can set it up:

  1. Go to the Products tab and create a new product for your "Gift Box" (e.g., SKU-GIFTBOX-LARGE).
  2. In the General tab, check โ€œThis is a bundle.โ€
  3. A new Bundled Items tab will appear.
  4. Click โ€œAdd Bundled Itemโ€ and search for the SKUs of your component products, adding them one by one.
  5. Set the quantity for each item (e.g., โ€œ1โ€ of each).

Using this approach, each item in the bundle retains its own HS code, ensuring accurate and seamless customs documentation. Itโ€™s a smart way to manage bundles while keeping everything compliant and organized!

If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Happy Shipping!
