This week's release includes the launch of our German Help Center, the carrier Sendle for US merchants, many order grid improvements, and several mobile bug fixes for Android users.

Improvements

Features

  • Delivery Duties Paid: We’ve expanded the Prepaid Duties and Taxes option for Delivery Duties Paid (DDP) for USPS shipments from the United States to Canada. DDP in ShipStation now supports USPS Priority Mail International and USPS Priority Mail Express International with a variety of package types.
  • German Help Center: Our German merchants can now find translated support documentation in our German Help Center!
  • Order grid improvements: We are continuing to make improvements on the Orders Grid to make viewing orders and actions as efficient as possible.
    • For ShipStation Germany, If the action name is too long for the drop-down menu, an ellipsis will appear, indicating the text goes on. The full text will appear when hovering over the action.

    • ShipStation will now show you orders when you save or change an order filter, regardless of the page of orders you are on. This will prevent any confusion when filters have been applied, and no results appear.

Integrations

Carriers

  • UPS from ShipStation: To help keep merchants compliant with UPS’ Dangerous Goods policy, we have removed the option to select “This includes Dry Ice” from Other Shipping Options when the service “UPS from ShipStation” is selected. Dry ice is considered a dangerous good and cannot be shipped under UPS from ShipStation agreement.
  • Sendle: Sendle is now available to US merchants as a carrier service.
  • Direct Freight Express: We added messaging about Manifest Requirements and Consignment fees when you first connect a Direct Freight Express account. You can create manifests for Direct Freight Express from within ShipStation.

Bug Fixes

Features

  • Customers Tab: We’ve resolved a bug so that the Marketplace Username menu on the Customers tab only shows marketplaces that merchants have connections to. This fixes a bug that was causing all available marketplaces to appear in the drop-down menu, even if they were not connected.
  • Order Details:  We’ve fixed a bug so that the Order Details remain usable when a rate error is shown. Previously, when amending the size for a package, rate errors would freeze the Order Details, preventing orders from being processed.
  • Split Ship: We’ve corrected an issue that was causing the message “Selling channel adjusted quantity” to show any time a merchant updated the quantity of items in an order in ShipStation. Now, this message will only appear when the quantity of an item in an order is updated in the selling channel.
  • Insights Reports: We've updated our Account Balance History page located in Insights Reports so that label and insurance transactions appear separately when they are two separate transactions. Previously, those costs were always shown together even if they were not always the same transaction.
  • Batch Printing
    • We resolved the issue in the new layout that did not move processed Batches out of the Open Status. Once all labels in a Batch print, the Batch will be set as Processed
    • We updated the Batch Status window so it will now display the Batch Notes.MaryS_1-1665003661536.jpeg
  • Orders Grid Sorting:
    •  We fixed the sorting issue with the Age Column which seemed to be sorting based on Shipped date and not the age of the order. The Age Column will now sort as descending or ascending order based on the age of the order.
    • We addressed the issue that would deselect grouped orders if they were originally selected by clicking the header row. All orders that are selected by clicking the header row in a group view will remain selected until a batch is processed or it is deselected.
  • Returns: We resolved the issue that caused the error message: 'Service ID' is not in the correct format’ when creating a return label and utilizing the default return service. You can now create Return labels without needing to re-select the default service from the drop-down menu.
  • ShipStation Connect: We fixed the issue that was incorrectly displaying a Login Failed error when trying to log in with the correct credentials. There should be no issues with logging into ShipStation Connect.

Integrations

Carriers

  • UPS Germany: We’ve released a fix that ensures that the UPS agreement is available in German and merchants can register successfully.
  • Deutsche Post: We fixed a bug that was causing an error message: Value 'xxx' is not one of declared properties for field 'contentPieceNetweight' (Generic) for multi-item orders when the total weight ended in an uneven number, for example 152.5.
  • DHL eCommerce (AU): We addressed the issue of removing the zero at the end of a decimal value. For example, 2.00 would become 2.0. This would prevent label creation and trigger the error message: Create Label Failed: Invalid Total Declared Value. Please enter up to 10 digits and up to 2 decimals. The new behavior will no longer remove the zero at the end of a decimal value.
  • DPD Ireland: We updated the DPD Ireland integration so it no longer automatically applied additional insurance charges to shipments. Insurance charges will only apply when you select insurance.

Selling Channels

  • Amazon:
    • ShipStation has implemented a fix to avoid throttling order imports. On the activity tab of Store Settings, Amazon merchants were encountering the error code: 429 from URL: sale_orders_export for SellerID: xxxx, causing all orders to not import.
    • Marketplace notifications for Amazon DE stores will now update Amazon with the shipment details. Previously, Amazon DE merchants sending shipments using Deutsche Post DHL for ShipStation saw the error: Input string was not in correct format
    • We removed the unnecessary Custom URL that would import in the Item Description on Order Details
  • Walmart: We resolved an issue that was causing Walmart marketplace notifications to fail at sending tracking numbers for Endicia DHL GlobalMail shipments. Previously, merchants saw the error: "IntegrationError: Unsupported carrier 'DHL' was specified in line number 1. Only pre-defined names are allowed for 'carrier.' For a list of acceptable carriers, see https://developer.walmart.com/api/us/mp/orders#operation/shippingUpdates. If you select 'otherCarrier' you must also provide the tracking URL."
  • Shopify
    • We have implemented a fix that expands the amount of orders that can be accommodated during an order refresh for merchants using the latest version of Shopify. Previously, merchants would encounter a 504 error: “An error occurred attempting to update orders: We encountered an error communicating with Shopify. Please attempt to refresh the store in a few minutes.”
    • Shopify released a fix that resolves the issue with Checkout Rates that prevented customers from completing the checkout process and displayed the error message:  Your chosen shipping rate is no longer valid. Select a new rate. Shopify shoppers can now successfully complete their checkout with their select shipping method.
  • BigCommerce: Users that are having order import issues with their BigCommerce store should migrate to the latest version of BigCommerce. If you are seeing the error message: 429 Too Many Requests and not receiving orders from BigCommerce into ShipStation, contact support to be enabled for Migration. Please review the Migration Guide for a smooth transition.
  • eBay: The new version of eBay will now display tax and shipping paid on the Order Details page in ShipStation. We have addressed the issue that made it appear as though orders did not include taxes or shipping paid values.

Mobile

Improvements

  • Android Login: We improve the Authorization flow with the Android app. This will prevent random logouts, erroneous retry login screens, and a couple of logout related crashes.

Bug Fixes

  • Android:
    • Edit Order Items: We fixed a bug that would change an item to a blank item if you added two new items to a Manual order. Adding new items to a manual order will no longer affect items added during manual order creation.
    • Orders: We updated the UI on the Orders page so the icons for domestic and international orders display correctly for non-US accounts.
    • eBay: We fixed a bug that wouldn’t show the eBay icon on appropriate orders. Now orders imported from eBay will display the eBay logo icon.

Selling Channels

  • Amazon:
    • We removed the unnecessary Custom URL that would import in the Item Description on Order Details

The Custom URL data being imported on Amazon orders was life-changing for us. Literally, it made our whole operations experience 1,000% easier and more reliable. Please don't remove it or at least make it configurable. PLEASE!

The Custom URL being configurable under store options would be the best way to suit everyone.

@adam90 If you don't mind me asking how are you converting the Custom URL into usable data? For us the Custom URL lead to a Zip file with XML data or similar that isn't exactly human readable.

We currently use a third party Chrome extension to import the custom data from Seller Central to ShipStation so it appears as item options. It worked brilliantly until the Custom URL started overwriting it so that is why unless there is a better option we require it to be disabled.

@mark2 I also was using a third-party provider with a Chrome extension but seemed to always have difficulty between needing to keep the computer on and staying logged into both systems for the sync to run. And, it seemed like when one of those things went wrong, it took maybe up to an hour to get things back to running again which was frequently causing us delays (an hour is a big deal when we promise next-day shipping on a personalized product that we frequently seller 400+ of a day.)

We sell on multiple marketplaces, and to streamline our operations, we sort of use ShipStation as the central warehouse of all of our production data (Shopify, Amazon, and Etsy.) So, for a long time we've been using the ShipStation API to extra the data from all of our orders, get it into a standard format, and prepare it for production/shipping each day. But, as I said, we were still relying on the third-party to get us the Amazon Custom data into ShipStation first.

With that Custom URL in ShipStation (and accessible via the SS API), I wrote a lightweight job that runs every 15 minutes to pull the data from the Custom URL, get it into the format that I need, and then post it back into ShipStation the same way that third-party plugin does, albeit now with some logic behind it that has enabled us to streamline our operations even further (for example, correcting common typos, adding special icons to highlight non-typical requests, etc.) And, I never have to worry about the third-party sync not running... the data is just always there right when I need it.

Even if ShipStation does remove this URL, I'll just have to find a way to call the Amazon API directly. Our operations can't afford to go back to the old solution.

I never intended to offer this above solution to others, but if it'd help you, reach out, and I'll do my best to assist.

The sendle integration is helpful, but is not giving us the proper rates. Even though we have entered in our proper API and integration, the rates quoted/billed are consistently the next rate/weight above what we pay on the sendle dashboard. Making it a complete waste of time to have the integration when it's not working properly.
