I see that if the customer put in an apartment number on the same line as the street address, Shipstation flags it as invalid or missing apartment number. I have been having to copy and paste the apartment number on to the next line and then this flag goes away.

Also I see SS classifying some addresses as commercial or residential randomly. It does not seem to make any sense.

Some address are validating as commercial when in fact they are residential. Shipstation used to have a "mark address as residential" tick box but this no longer seems to be available and if very much needed as we are incurring additional charges for our carrier UPS to correct the address.

Thank you for posting in the community! The check box is currently in the rate browser, as shown here. 

I would encourage you to contact support@shipstation to see why you are possibly getting adjustments from UPS.
