Bulk printing order summaries

I run a fulfillment business and we just picked up two customers in the last 30 days who both use Shipstation for label printing. This is the first I've used Shipstation in my workflow and it is mostly great, except we need to find a better solution for printing order summaries.

We use Order Summaries as work document that travels with the product through picking and embroidery. Its the perfect document. Our problem is that we need to print 1000+ of these on our busiest days between the two customers. When I try to select multiple orders at once and print them, the order summaries get printed with more than 1 order per 8.5"x11" sheet. We need each order to print on its own page so that we can put the orders in their own separate tote to travel through our warehouse.

Printing these 1 at a time is exhausting and error prone. There has to be a better way, right?

Thanks,

Alex

Hi Alex.
I didn't even know order summarise existed! 🙂

I think the workaround for this is create a custom packing slip and redesign it to look the same as the order summaries. Then you can batch orders together and print them all at once. It wouldn't take any longer than an hour to do and would fix this for you.

Thanks, I'll take a look at this option! You're able to insert page breaks in these?

Our current workflow is--

1) print order summary on an 8.5x11 page

2) customize all of the orders as needed, take it to the shipping area

3) print label + pack slip at the same time, both on separate 4x6 labels

I'm wondering if we use a custom pack slip for order picking, would we be able to use our current packslip as the actual slip?

Thanks,

Alex

Thats going to be the tricky part. When you create a batch and print the packing slips, you can select a different packing slip. I would need to test to see if that changes the default packing slip for the orders. I'm 99% sure it doesn't. Then when you print label and packing slip, it would use the default slip assigned to the order.

I've tested this and it seems to work. If you select the order and select print it will give you the option to select a different packing slip template. Select the 8.5x11 custom packing slip and print.

If you use ShipStation Connect to automatically print packing slips to the printer, you wont be able to do this for the 8.5x11 slips. You will need to use the arrow next to the ShipStation Connect button to open the print modal and choose your template option.

Once you have completed your pick, you can then use Scan to Verify/Print to complete the rest of the workflow with ShipStation connect (if you use it.).
