Currently, any SKU that is active in ShipStation Inventory syncs to *all* marketplaces selected as targets in the Inventory Sync add-on, regardless of the listing’s status on the marketplace itself.
The problem: this causes "deactivated” or “closed” listings on marketplaces to be automatically reactivated or relisted.
Proposed solution:
The listing status on the marketplace should take priority over the stock update push.
If a listing is closed, inactive, or archived, ShipStation should not push inventory to it.
Example:
We had to close a listing on Amazon US and deactivate it on Etsy because we currently can’t ship that product to the US from our home country. However, we still sell the same SKU on Amazon Canada and on our own website, so we have active inventory for it in ShipStation.
Here’s what happens now:
1. Someone buys the item on Amazon Canada (merchant fulfilled).
2. ShipStation reduces stock accordingly.
3. ShipStation then syncs the updated inventory to all connected sales channels — including Etsy and Amazon US.
4. This automatically reactivates the Etsy listing and re-lists the product on Amazon US, even though both are intentionally closed.
Marketplace listing status should override stock pushes to prevent this from happening. We now manually check the status of those listings every morning to make sure they haven’t been reactivated and aren’t available for US customers to purchase, which is obviously not ideal.
Thanks for listening 🙂
