New Feature - Mexico Shipping including the recipients CURP and RFC Numbers

I've been having trouble with shipments to customers in Mexico.  They are being returned with the box saying "Unclaimed" (in Spanish of course).  In researching this, I found this article:

https://www.usglobalmail.com/helps/mexico-import-requirements-update/

Seems like Mexico is requiring that any Mexican national has to have their RFC and CURP numbers on the shipment in order to take deliver of a shipment from outside the country.

These are basically tax ids, but broader.  It would be nice if ShipStation supported adding these numbers to the order.  Currently, recipient tax ids are supported, but these are not listed as a type.  Also, I actually tried to enter them on an order for a customer, and just select TIN, and SSN, as this is kind of what they are.  I received an error saying Stamps.com does not support recipient tax ids.

So, even if the Types were supported, there seems to be a problem on the Stamps.com side of things.

This is really needed as a feature, both from ShipStation and Stamps.com, so I can ship orders and they will get delivered.

In the short term, I added them to the "Company Name" field, so they would show up on the shipping label and declaration for customs, but I don't know if that will work or not, and while I see it on the shipping label, that field is limited to 50 characters and the customer I just did this with had a Company name already entered, and when I first tried to add the CURP and RFC numbers, it made the Company name too long, as it is limited to 50 characters.  As a workaround, I abbreviated his company name, and left off the labels for each number (CURP and RFC), as they are unique and different lengths, so they should be able to tell which is which.

Like I said, I don't know if this will work, so this being directly supported by ShipStation and Stamps.com is really a must have for me, as I get quite a few orders from customers in Mexico (I'm in the U.S. by the way).

Hello @andrigs!

Thanks for your post! I suggest you use the TIN (Tax Identification Number) when entering this information. I’ve found that both numbers are typically required for the parcel recipient, not the sender.

In this case, I recommend ensuring the details are entered correctly—under Recipient Tax Information in the Shipment Details window—rather than saving them in your International Settings. That should help ensure the information passes through correctly.

Let us know if this works for you and if you have any other questions!

Happy Shipping!

I will try that using the TIN type.  Thank you for that suggestion.  Will both RFC and CURP numbers fit in that field?

I tried doing this, with the TIN, and it doesn't work.  I get an error that says that Stamps.com doesn't support tax id's.

Hello @andrigs!

Thank you so much for your patience! I checked in with our development team regarding TIN numbers, and we agree that proper support for the recipient’s tax ID is essential.

According to Stamps.com documentation, the TIN should be mapped to the Company field. The details are here: Stamps.com—Country-Specific Cross-Border Shipping Requirements.

Please feel free to reach out if you need any other information.

Again, your patience is much appreciated!
