Allocating Orders on Hold

We do customized orders and not everything that flows through to Awaiting Shipment actually ships the same day. Some orders need to be put on hold until ready to ship. I want to confirm the best way to handle inventory accounting within Shipstation for these orders that are on Hold. Does Shiptation keep inventory allocated for orders that move to Hold from Awaiting Shipment? I was being told repeatedly by Shipstation customer service rep that Shipstation does not account for inventory not shipped yet - which makes no sense and can totally result in overselling. I do know that auto-allocation does not happen for orders, so if these are manually allocated prior to being put on Hold, will my inventory numbers be accurate? Any insight would help ๐Ÿ™‚
