More services being reduced and the costs going up!
How is ParcelGuard when it comes to actually getting paid for a claim? Any first hand experiences good and bad? Cheaper isn't always better when it comes to insurance.

I hope that this isn't the case. I really don't want to be forced into using ParcelGuard. If I cannot use USPS additional insurance when using USPS I'm going to have to seek an alternative to ShipStation, as that lack of functionality is puzzling. Why the change, ShipStation? Put it back!

This update is awful. I may have to discontinue using SS. This really seems like a step backward. I ship a lot of 3rd party and I don't really want to pay for the insurance. I always pas that cost along.
Tell me Ship Station, are you reducing costs while you are reducing services?

That is the Shipstation way. Increase costs, but never improve. The company does not listen to customers. They obviously do not pay attention to what people say in the community because things that should have been fixed years ago are still not fixed.

Same here...yet I don't know where to go. I've used ParcelGuard and they are a complete nightmare. The only thing that makes sense is SS are making money off ParcleGuard. Par for the course, I've asked a chat agent (not the bot) and they had no clue what I was talking about.

I spoke with an agent as well via chat and she didn't know about it either. It took her about 10 minutes to figure out what I was talking about.
Its amazing that there was no communication on this prior to it happening. All of a sudden, you can no longer use your carrier insurance. And we ship items that exceed the $10,000 max value with ParcelGuard so we really can't use it anyway unless we want to hedge that bet.
I really love Shipstation for 90% of what it is. But that 10% is just so frustrating

Who are you switching to? Not being able to use carrier insurance - who generally pay out when there is an issue - is a deal breaker. I have had terrible experiences with Parcel Guard. For one, they make you provide a repair estimate and do all the legwork.

Hello @RTMartin!
Thank you for your post in the Community. I’ve shared your feedback with our development team and other relevant groups. We’re genuinely sorry for the frustration this has caused—we want you to know that we are listening!
For clarity, carrier insurance with walleted carriers does include coverage up to $100. I’ve also included our Help Center article “Can I add insurance to my shipments?” for more details.
Your experiences are invaluable to the Community, so we encourage you to keep sharing them!
Happy Shipping!

What an absolute bullshit answer. You are clearly not listening as everyone here is complaining about you forcing us to use ParcelGuard. You are as bad as the US president. We hate it. You make shipping miserable. Your patronizing response is insulting.

I have spent hours trying to understand if ship station passes through the free USPS insurance up to $100, or if as it now says the insurance is zero unless I use ParcelGuard which I dislike.
Right now I have been using USPS direct and just not using Ship station. Why would I use Ship Station when it costs more and I am stuck with ParcelGuard that I do not like??

This would be a great time to start discussing ShipStation alternatives... again! Forced into using ParcelGuard? I can only think of one reason to force users into using their insurance... MORE $$$$$ for the a$$hats at Thoma Bravo.

Does anyone have any alternatives they recommend?

I had an awful experience with ParcelGuard where it created a bug on my account and would keep charging me for labels whenever I would use ParcelGuard, but would not generate the files for me to print. It would just look like a label still needed to be created. ShipStation's recommended solution was to discontinue use of ParcelGuard because it was a known issue that was happening for customers. They would let me know when it was resolved and the bug was removed, but they didn't have an ETA. I needed insurance for my packages so I set up external insurance through UPS Capital, and it's been working great... but now I'm under contract with them and am unsure if this new update means I will have to completely re-operationalize how we process shipments. Not looking forward to this... hope I'm wrong!!

Horrible paperwork, red tape and fighting. You literally get what you pay for.

I spoke to a human finally and they indicate that one carrier insurance that shipstation provides is going away. If you are using your own account then you can continue to insure your packages as usual.

I don't know about all of you but it appears ShipStation may have rolled this policy back. When I create a label with UPS, I can now select carrier insurance as an option. There is an annoying notification that I can save money using Parcel Guard but at least I can use my carrier insurance again.

I can also pick "Carrier" insurance. I've never seen the "Parcel Guard" notification though.
