USPS Recycled Tracking Numbers

tommydearest

Is anyone having a problem with USPS recycled tracking numbers this week?  We've had two customers email to complain that USPS shows their items delivered somewhere else.  Upon checking, they were delivered in Nov.

Scanning forums, we see this has been a problem in the past.

We are having the same issue with about a dozen packages from 03/13.  Packages from 03/14, 03/12 and 03/11 seem to be ok, as do the rest from 03/13.  Frustrating for sure.

Same.  Just realized it's every package from 3/13.  Luckily, it was one of our slower days.  Still, frustrating.  Don't know why USPS can't just have it show the latest scan on their tracking page.  Can't they just program "If new scan takes place then delete old tracking info" ?

Hello @tommydearest!

Thank you for your post in the communtiy! We identified an issue that caused incorrect tracking events for some USPS labels. Our team has since resolved this, and any new labels created moving forward should no longer be affected.

As your legitimate package moves through the USPS system, tracking information will update accordingly. However, some erroneous tracking events may still appear alongside the correct ones. Rest assured, your packages will still be delivered, though tracking may show unexpected updates until the real package progresses through the system.

We apppreciare your patience as we looked into this.

Happy Shipping!

This is not true...USPS is not updating the tracking information.

I would like to know who at ShipStation we can contact about getting reimbursed on the value of these missing orders.  If this is Ship Stations mistake they should have to pay for these missing orders that we will have to resend.

Hello, @sales95!

Thank you for your post in the community! I understand how frustrating these recycled tracking numbers from USPS can be, and I genuinely appreciate your patience.

Iโ€™ve requested that a senior member of our support team contact you regarding your open ticket, 7987527, to assist further.

For anyone new to the community looking to understand why this happens, Iโ€™ve attached our Help Center articles for more information. Why does USPS show my package as Delivered if I just shipped it?

If you are having issues with anything, please reach out to support@shipstation.com.

I just got a message about one from 3/12.  Came here to see if anyone else was having issues.  So frustrating, we had it happen a few months ago and itโ€™s frankly unacceptable that itโ€™s happening again.

Odd thing is that Shipstation dashboard shows a few of these with the "Delivered" icon now, whereas it showed the 'In Transit' icon earlier.  But, going to USPS tracking page still shows the old delivered message from Nov.  I'm guessing there is something the Shipstation system knows that isn't reflected on USPS tracking page.  Wish we had access to that info considering we are paying for service.

Same here. Also a bunch saying โ€œnot in the systemโ€ even though they were all dropped at the same time.
