Shipment Items Description from Shopify

When we were on WooCommerce, the shipment items description field in ShipStation would populate with the variant names from the product, but with Shopify, it just has an hc_default: number that doesn't seem to even correspond with anything I can find in Shopify.

Am I missing something here? Is there a way to make this description field useful?
