Usually, you can purchase thermal labels with a doc tab addition on top of the typical 4x6" label. Well, on other programs like ShipRush, we should be able to print item names/packing slip information on the doc tab. This is really really useful!
Thanks for all the feedback everyone, if you have any other uses please let us hear it! We read all of your comments as they come in.
@sachin86 - thanks for the update! Yes, it makes sense. Have you looked into using packing slips or order summaries (great for record keeping!) for this purpose? Or is this doc tab going to serve as a sort of mini-packing slip as suggested by @Chad earlier? Please let us know if these aren't good fits for you, and we'll reach out to you if we need more info so we don't keep blowing up everyone's inboxes. ;)
Here's some info on gift packing slips (doesn't show price) if any one is interested: https://help.shipstation.com/hc/en-us/articles/205901218
Haha thanks for your quick responses and interest in adding this feature.
Yes, we do use order summaries to pull and pack orders. But still, this is like a double check and it almost always eliminates any order mistakes. Ever since we started having the item name printed on the shipping label, it has reduced order errors by 60%.
An even better suggestion would be that you allow us to print many more characters on the doc tab than is currently allowed on the shipping label itself. That way longer item titles don't get cut off and we will be even more accurate!
I would like the ability to print our logo across the top of a 4x8 thermal label. Being able to customize the content would be great too, such as having the ability to upload our own image for this space or the ability to add a coupon code or a marketing message about an upcoming promotion, a QR code, etc.
SS, This would be very helpful, and extremely cost effective, to have a condensed packing slip able to print to a doc-tab, rather than using up an entire additional label to accomplish the same.
Hey @Mano Miyata Best Damn Beauty LLC - Thanks for chiming in, do you have examples of what you'd like to see on the doc tab or have thoughts on the other comments below?
Having doc tabs would be super helpful. Even a barebones implementation of supporting 4x8 labels and letting us customize what to print after the end of the shipping label would be super helpful; right now we use a somewhat customized pick list as our 'doc tab' to store with our physical invoices, but we really don't need that much label. Letting us print a few things on the end of a 4x8 label would cut our label usage in half.
I agree with ASP,Inc we just need Shipstation to support printing 4 x 8 labels and then allow us to customize what goes on the top or bottom of the label. It is great for adding a logo and marketing message.
