Usually, you can purchase thermal labels with a doc tab addition on top of the typical 4x6" label. Well, on other programs like ShipRush, we should be able to print item names/packing slip information on the doc tab. This is really really useful!

We used to use the extra space to print a larger version of our logo, as well as our contact information.

Here is a diagram of the FedEx 6.75" x 4" doc tab label: http://www.hollandcomputers.com/store/pc/FedEx-4-in-x-6-75-in-large-thermal-label-with-1-in-core-shi... We would like to print the order number on the tab.

8" labels that have 6" for the label and 2" perforated for a small receipt with customer name, address, date shipped, service used and tracking number would be nice to have.

For me personally, It allows us to put a copy the tracking number on every page that is printed. So if I need to have an order looked up, I dont have to have the team member log into a website to find tracking. That is a huge time saver when you do this multiple times per day. Also its is a visual confirmation that the order was shipped for anyone trying to figure out order status in various scenarios.

It is like a receipt that gets put on to a hard copy of the invoice and can be looked up manually.

We pack 50-75 packages at a time and the order number is written/stickered on the outside of the package before taping it shut. We associate shipping labels with packages using the order number...unfortunately FedEx smart post labels do not allow us to add the order number to the label, so we have no easy way to associate the label to the package. We would like to use the doc tabs to "add" the order number to FedEx smart post labels.

We want it for two main reasons: 1) We sell a lot of gift items. Currently Shipstation prints out the item name on the bottom of the shipping label itself so when people receive their package, they already know what is inside. That kind of defeats the purpose of a surprise opening of the gift. If it is printed on the doc tab, it allows our packers to still confirm that the item they are packaging is the item that the customer ordered (a visual confirmation they are not packaging the wrong item to the wrong order). 2) We do not want the post office or letter carrier to know what is inside the package for fear of theft, etc.

Thank you everyone for the updates, we'd love to get as much information as we can so if you haven't yet, please let us know how Doc Tabs help your workflow! @sachin86 - If your item names are showing on your labels, it sounds like you have your label messages set up that way. Here's how to change that: https://help.shipstation.com/hc/en-us/articles/206639957

So we still want that the item name appears somewhere (as it helps the packers confirm that the right item is going to the right person), but we don't want it on the shipping label. We want it on the doc tab so that the customer/postal carrier does not know what is in there. Does that make sense?
