USPS Extra charges - Adjustments Disputes

Diego5

Regarding this Request #9040128

In the last 2 weeks, I have received over 1800 Adjustments from USPS called "Incorrect packaging used",  over 4430.81 USD in extra charges

This request i am asking why 2 shipments the same product, Same dimensions, same weight, and one is being charged with additional charges (incorrect packaging used) , And the other is being credited the same charge?

and nobody is able to provide a clear answer, i always receive an generic answer to dispute the charges with USPS, they are not able to support since the account belong to shipstation.

I am disputing all these extra charges and requesting a refund for over 3000 USD in extra charges.

i noticed a lack of knowledge and support from the Shipstation team.

Hello @Diego5!

Thank you for your post in the Community! I see that you’ve already been working with our Support Team, and I checked in with them to gather a bit more information that may help clarify things. I can see how this could be frustrating.

When it comes to USPS adjustments, it’s essential to know that USPS handles all adjustment disputes directly, unlike UPS by ShipStation, where adjustments flow through us; USPS reviews and processes their own disputes.

If you believe an adjustment was misapplied, you’ll want to file a dispute with USPS using their claims portal here:

When submitting your dispute, USPS recommends including the following details:

Tracking number

Charge amount

Dispute information, including the adjustment reason and package dimensions

Proof against the adjustment, such as photos, invoices, or any documentation that demonstrates the correct weight, size, or service used

This information helps USPS validate the claim and determine whether the adjustment should be reversed.

About the Adjustment Processing Fee (APF)

ShipStation applies an Adjustment Processing Fee (APF) when a carrier—such as USPS—identifies a discrepancy after a label is created (for example, mismatched weight or dimensions.

These discrepancies result in additional administrative and processing costs for us. The APF helps offset those costs, allowing us to continue offering competitive rates and reliable service.

We appreciate you bringing this to the community. This allows learning from others' experiences.

Happy Shipping and Holiday!

I am in the same boat, with 71 illegitimate money-grabs masquerading as "adjustments" in the last couple of months, totaling over $1,400.

Shipstation support is useless. They either don't know anything or act like they don't know anything.

If anyone else is experiencing theft of your Stamps.com funds via "adjustments" that don't make any sense, please post here.

Sounds like a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT in the making.

Hello @vcv!

I’m genuinely sorry for the frustration this situation has caused. I understand how disruptive unexpected adjustments can be, and I appreciate you taking the time to work through this with us.

After speaking with our support team, it appears the steps for reviewing these adjustments weren’t clearly provided earlier. That’s on us, and I apologize for the confusion.

To make this as easy as possible, here’s precisely where you can review the adjustments in your account, as well as the help center article around ShipStation Carrier Adjustments.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Select Carriers
  3. Click Actions next to USPS
  4. Choose Review Report
  5. Select Balances
  6. Enter the date range you’d like to review

If anything in this report appears incorrect or you have questions while reviewing it, please let me know. I’m happy to help walk you through it and ensure everything is fully understood.

Happy Shipping and Holidays!
